  • NXT Car Wash

Hi, ive never used meguiars products before but have alwayz been interested. i currently use the mr clean device just because of the ease of the autodry.

I was wondering after hearing about the NXT CAR WASH (Spot free finish) whther this has the same effect as the mr clean? e.g. do you just hose the foam off and then leave to dry???

Thanks for any advice, also i really want a sparkle to my black car so whats the best products to use? Many thanks

The unique thing about the Mr. Clean is that it has a de-ionizing filter. This final rinse with ultra pure water is what, for a large part, accounts for the spot free drying. All the minerals have been removed from the rinse water therefore when the droplets dry there are no spots.

With the NXT Wash, the product leaves a surface that sheets water off the finish. If any remaining droplets are allowed to dry they will leave spots as the water contains minerals.

That said, the product does it's job well in removing the excess water thus making the final drying with a waffle-weave drying towel a snap.

I personally don't like the Mr. Clean because the soap they use leaves a visible film on the finish.

As to the product to use, there are a great number to choose from and a lot of different ways to make your black car sparkle.

Without knowing your specifics, I'd generally recommend you click the RX Plus Car Care Prescription button on the meguiar's.com home page.

Again let me welcome you to the Meguiar's forum. You will find a lot of great information here and the forum members are first rate.

I SERIOUSLY advise you NOT to use the Mr Clean soap anywhere near your automobile along with NXT especially if you have a dark color. I tried using the Megs NXT on the bucket and the clean soap in the autodry unit and got horrible looking film on my truck every time their soap was used. Right now I just use the NXT shampoo in a bucket a little in the autodry unit and spray the shampoo on as a prerinse then go to town with the ultra plush mitt and a microfiber. All in all I get very good outcomes even though the water here is very hard. Just takes a lot of patience.

While there are a lot of ways to make your car sparkle, this routine will yield results.

•Wash your vehicle using the two bucket method.
•Clay your paint and use lots of lubricant. Your paint should feel mirror smooth when finished.
•Use a cleaner/polish next. I prefer #80 but the Deep Crystal #1 will also work.
•Apply a pure polish like #81 or Deep Crystal #2 next.
•Finally apply two coats of NXT Tech Wax. Apply very thin and even coats and let it sit for about 20 minutes before removing. Apply the second coat the following day.
•To maintain the good looks use NXT Tech Spray wax after ever other wash.

If you have a digital camera take a couple before and after shots. Try to catch the sun reflecting off the paint.

Remember, this is just the routine I like to use and there are many other good products and routines that will also work.

Umm, since the topic's about NXT Car Wash, I think this is the right place to ask... how does the water softener in this product work anyways? I'm curious, since I'll probably gonna get a bottle - hard water's a real nasty problem here...

If you are looking to cut back a few steps, you might do what I do on my daily driver...

                A Full Detail would be:
                1. Wash
                2. Clay as needed
                3. Clean
                4. Polish
                5. Wax
                6. Wax - 2 thin coats works best

                Instead, I do this:

                1. Wash - I use Gold Class or Nxt Wash.

                2. Clay - I use Meguiars Quick Clay as needed, usualy 3 - 4 times a year.

                3. ColorX - I use ColorX, which is a high quality Cleaner/Polish/Wax. If worked in well, it can also remove light swirls, unlike DC#1.

                4. Wax - I then apply a coat of Nxt wax.

Either way, I then use Spray Wax after most washings to keep up the good looks.

Of course other interior detail products, tire shine products, etc will also add to your results.

And the water softener somehow works by having a chemical that surrounds the hard water particles (forget the chemical name), so they are never able to attatch to anything, and wash right off.

the problem i have with many car wash soaps is the suds go flat and their isn't any/much lubricity (feels like i'm just washing with plain water). not the case with nxt. also... gold class is great as well (leaves a slicker finish), and i would use that when the car is not as dirty. can't go wrong with either...

does anyone know if I can add a dispensing cap or something to the NXT car wash? 64oz size.
sometimes I find it difficult to control how much comes out since this stuff is thick.
I went and got a small measuring cup to pour in. then I add it to my to 5gal buckets.

I use the NXT soap in the Mr Clean unit. Works great! This way I only have to use a bucket for rinsing the mits. The only problem is the water here is so hard that still get some spots, but it is better than not using it.
