  • Supreme Shine Microfiber

Just got them 2 days ago and had a chance to use them yesterday while detailing a friend's car, and later to QD my own car. I'll be following the format from Boss_429's thread.

    Packaging and Labelling
Good. Nice to not have to cut any plastic threads and possibly damage the towels.

    Usage, Care and Tips
Good. Tells you what you need to know.

    Performance
Is very plush compared to ultimate wipes. Also a fair bit larger, and I'm not sure if I like that. Hopefully I'll get used to it.
I did not find that it was all that absorbent compared to either ultimate wipes or Meg's terry towels.
However, for removing wax and buffing, it's a winner. Also excels at QD-ing.
However, I did find a major problem, which I will explain later.

    Value
Good value, even considering it cost $50 to ship it to me.

    Conclusion
Very soft and plush. So large that I feel like I can keep folding to a clean section forever. Poor for drying, but I wasn't planning to dry my car with it anyway. Excellent for wax removal, buffing and QD-ing. Tag is pointless but easily removed.

    My rating: 7/10

I initially rated this MF a 10/10 because it did such a great job on my friend's car. However, when I went to QD my own car, I ran into a major problem.
Before I state the problem, I must mention that my hood, front bumper and front quards have fresh paint on them, no more than 2 weeks old, so it's definitely still curing and very very soft.

However, they were still clean from being QD'd the day before with #34 and ultimate wipes, and only had very light dust.
As I was QD-ing my hood, I noticed some swirls. I had removed the buffer swirls from my hood a week before so I was very sure there was no marring.
Initially, I just thought I missed a spot, but as I kept going, more swirls appeared. I tested a spot which I knew was swirl-free and sure enough, swirls appeared.
At this point, I tried several new supreme shine MFs and all had the same problem. After a while, I finally realised the swirls were being caused by the "safety edging" on the towels.
I then tested the towels on roof of my car, which is still original factory paint. It did not cause any marring.

I later cut off the edging on one of the towels and tested on the hood and no new swirls appeared. However, my hood is now full of swirls and I'm quite disappointed, even more so because Meguiar's products have always been excellent.

I know that fresh paint is very soft but the swirls that were caused are very obvious, and I hope they aren't too deep. The rest of my factory paint is fairly hard so it withstood any marring, but I would hate to think that these towels, or rather their 'safety edging' could cause marring on softer paints. I will come back to this issue when the fresh paint has cured and test out the towels again. Hopefully, Meguiar's will release a version similar to the Ultimate Wipes that I have, with borderless edging.

    Nice review Mad!

Unlike your experience, I've had absolutely no problems with potential light scratching. In fact, I plan on buying a few more of these as they are a STEAL for $4 each. In my opinion, these towels raised the bar from the Ultimate Wipe in that the edges are safe (I had several problems with Ultimate Wipes having 'burnt' & hard edges (laser cutting) and had to cut them off with scissors).

Another solid buy is the new X2000 Water Magnet. At around $6 or $7 each, it's a SOLID item that's sure to be successful within the Meg's accessory line!

10.5 out of 10 on both products IMO...

I've had good results with the Supreme Shine Microfiber towels on a black 2004 Audi A4. (I did a quick coat of ColorX with the PC and a polishing pad....I was thrilled with the results considering that I only had the time for a one step product.)

        Mad iX,

Good review! I agree, with fresh paint, you need to be "EXTRA" careful. I doubt that any towel with edging on it would have passed that test.
