i had this issue as well, when i first used it. now... i take a big piece of cardboard or large paper grocery bag and hold it over the wheel inside the wheel well while i spray, and it seems to work.
Any aerosol tire product will have the overspray problem. If you get it right away with a MF and Speed Detailer, it comes right off. Also, try to avoid using it on windy days.
It would be nice to have Insane Shine in a trigger spray version.
Although I don't particularly like my tires extremely shiny, I do love this product. I like the nice, even look and the durability is amazing. Another great product in the new product line.

A while back I received a can of Meguiar's Insane Shine tire dressing (thanks Mike). I tried it and felt that it was a bit too wet and glossy looking for my taste on my RX330. I loved the look on my MR2. Well after a couple of days the gloss toned down to a very nice look.
The real impressive thing about this product is it's durability. It's been over a month since I dressed the tires and they still look like they have been freshly dressed. The RX330 is a daily driver and has been through rain and several washings and the stuff is still going strong. This is the most durable dressing I've ever used.
For me, nothing else has even come close in durability to the Insane Shine, not even Endurance. The shine does tone down a little bit, but it still looks great as your picture shows. I don't even remember when I last applied Insane Shine to my tires.

I have not used it on MY vehicle I might have to do that to compare Endurance's duarability over Insane Shine.
I tried to keep an eye on the Monte Carlo but its hard when I don't see it everyday.
I would enjoy a spray version of the Nxt, as an alternative to the aerosol. Seem a little more controlable to me, and the bottles last a bit longer in my opinion. I would enjoy the durability everyone speaks of, and the shine. I wonder if a spray cleaner could be done as well.
The only non-Meguiars thing I purposely use is a spray tire dressing, which lasts great for me, but could be shinier.
If you prefer a spray tire dressing, you may want to try the HOt ?Shine Trigger Spray version. It gives a nice shine, but not quite like Insane Shine. It is not as durable though, but is easy to use.
Maybe Meguiars will eventually have a trigger spray version of Insane Shine. Hot Shine started out as aerosol only then they added the trigger spray.
My concern with the insane tire shine is not the hexane in it but the acetone. acetone is used as nailpolish remover, which removes paint almost instantly. If this gets on the clear coat of my wheels, will it eat away at it?
Thanks

Hi Chris,
Seeing this is your first post, Welcome to Meguiar's Online!
Your concern over the acetone has been brought up before and two points...
1. the Hexane and the Acetone are used as propellants and evaporate very quickly into the air under normal use.
2. The tire dressing is supposed to be sprayed onto rubber not paint, so it shouldn't be an issue
Our R&D department as well as all the people involved with bringing a product to market through the different testing phases take concerns like yours into consideration when developing a new product. They take things like overspray onto a painted wheel for example, into consideration and if the product wasn't safe for use as instructed according to the directions, then they wouldn't bring it to market.
I personally like the convenience of an aerosol tire dressing as it sprays the tire dressing into all the grooves and intricate patterns on the sidewalls of the tires on our Pilot. I have learned to apply this product when the Pilot is in the garage to reduce overspray from the wind as it is quite windy where I live.
Meguiar's offers a number of different tire dressings in a number of different delivery methods. By doing this we give our customers choice, some people will like a gel, some will like a trigger spray and others will prefer the aerosol.
Hope this helps...

I got some Insane Shine on my paint (windy day) and it caused absolutely no problems. It did not even remove the NXT wax that was already on the paint. Some NXT Speed Detailer easily removed the overspray.
Hot Shine (aerosol) also contains acetone and it never caused a problem for me either.

In my applications I have also gotten some overspray on the paint and have seen no problems with it.
Thanks, Im sure meguires knows what they are doing. but when i see acetone in ingredients and instructions: "do not apply to painted surfaces" and "remove overspray immediately", im going to be concerned about using it.
I did buy it and use it. It looks amazing. I didnt get any overspray on my car. But im sure it got on the wheel, thats why im looking into maybe using something else, like the "gold class endurance high gloss gel" ... theres so much stuff out there im getting confused on what to use. But if im convinced that the insane shine wont harm my wheels, ill keep using it.
One other question..... A friend gave me some metal polish to shine my wheels, but im thinking, the wheels are clear coated so shouldnt they be treated as a painted surface, and not as a metal surface?
Nxt Metal Polish is actualy safe for use on clearcoated wheels, as the diminishing abrasives break down and wont cause scratches. However, be carefull if it is someone elses, or another metal polish.
That said, yes, clearcoated wheels can be treated as regular paint. You can clay them (dont use clay from wheels up on your paint), clean, polish, wax, etc. Claying and colorX topped with NXt is my routine for the car, so I do it to the wheels evey so often as well, or at least the parts I can reach.
Hi..
i might have missed it but..i am curious about the wear of Insane shine..If i feel the need to apply/re-apply down the road, do i need to re-clean/strip the tires and remove what's left?
Can i just clean off dirt with soap and re-apply?
Now, i know dust/dirt will accumulate on the tires from normal driving.. will the shine remain (or dull) after a light cleaning??
So far so good though. It's what i've been waiting for for a long time...
thanks!
