  • Ultimate Bonnet M-9920 ~ Review

I decided to pull a couple products out of my collection that I have had for sometime and post my comments on them. Here is one product...

I have been using Ultimate Bonnets for a year or so now and here is what I think.

    First Impressions:
At first I was very skeptical about using a PC to remove product. Over time users here on MOL convinced me to pick a few up. Every photo I had/have seen that a UB was used to remove wax has been flawless that was the final stamp of approval for me.

    Application/Use:
These things are simple. Slip them on a Meguiar's W-8006 foam polishing pad and you are set. Directions are simple, you can remove wax or polish, I have only removed wax on a speed setting of 3 on my PC.

I have used them to remove NXT Generation Tech Wax and #21 Synthetic Sealant both came off with ease and left a streak free finish free of swirls or anything else.

NXT removed with the PC + UB:

    Overall Impression:
These are a great product. It was well worth the money. They do seem to add just a touch more depth to NXT and make product removal very fast!

They don't have as deep a knapp as I would have thought but they still can remove a fair amount of product without build up.

I have washed with Woolite 6-8 times and they are holding up very well, still soft, clean up well and still look new. I like to store them in the original package unsealed.

If you plan to remove a polish with the UB it could get a little time consuming changing the pad and bonnet every time you apply then need to remove the polish. As you should not let a polish dry like a wax. Seems to me you would almost need 2 PCs to make it work quick.

At first they seemed a little expensive to me at $6 then I used one... I have purchased a couple more to keep on hand. It sure would be nice to have a multi-pack with a slight price break.

If you have a PC then you NEED these.

        Hey,

        Just to chime in...

The new part number for the MF Bonnet in the 6.5" size is # X4003 which comes 2 to a package.

The X4009 is the 9-10" MF Bonnets.

I've found the best use for the bonnet's is to use them with my Meg's portable buffer at car shows. I apply some speed detailer with an mf towel and follow that with a quick buff with the ub on the buffer. I think it adds that extra "pop" to the gloss for the show and is very fast.

They don't get a build up of wax residue that way and last a long time between washes.
