I had a chance to give Meguiars Safety Tip Wheel Spoke Brush a try today.
First Impressions:
Its packaged in cardboard/plastic hanging package, as with all the new accessories there is an area cut out to feel the brush.
I like the handle, nice soft rubber same material as the "safety tip". The brush itself is a a simple design, the bristles are twisted into a wire rod.
Application/Use:
I used it with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner.
Call me old fashioned but I still don't like using wheel cleaners on my wheels. Just some soap and water works great for me.
Overall Impression:
At first I thought just a wheel brush... Well I have found that this works great getting deep into my wheels cleaning the brake dust/road grime off.
The safety tip is a simple but needed addition, keeps the metal rod from jabbing in to brake rotors, rims and anything else that could be damaged. I also noticed that the rubber handle came in contact with my wheels many times leaving no marks at all (again its a nice soft rubber). The brush itself is flexible allowing it to squeeze in between rotors and bend around as needed yet provide support to brush and clean the surface.
The rims came clean very easy deep inside where I have never been able to reach before. They look very clean now and it looks like I will prevent any serious build up of hard to remove gunk like in the past.
From this photo of a rim detail I did a while back you can see where I was able to reach by hand and the rest is covered in gunk!
Past Wheel Detail Write Up
After the wash the brush rinsed off clean and new looking with the bristles "fluffed up". The package suggests hanging the brush to prevent the bristles from getting crushed.
At 5.99 the brush seems reasonable. If it saves me the time, effort and cost of a clay bar.... when doing a full detail on the inside of my rims; the brush is worth allot more than that!
