  • Versa-Angle Ultra Plush Wash Mop G-1190 ~ Review

OK, anyone with a roof on their car NEEDS one of these: Meguiars Versa-Angle Ultra Plush Wash Mop.

    First Impressions:
Its packaged in some simple thick cardboard, and it serves its purpose.

The handle reminded me of a "Swiffer". Its what it says, a wash mop with a telescoping handle; reaching around 58"! The "mop" head (the cover) is changeable, great idea!

    Application/Use:
I used it with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner and a Grit Guard.

    Overall Impression:
This is a MUST have for anyone with a hard to reach roof on your vehicle, I am sold! I use to stand on a milk crate and stretch to clean my windshield, roof and bed cover. With this it saves time and your shirt won't get wet from leaning on the vehicle.

I was a little concerned that the handle would hit the roof of my truck but I found that the design holds the metal handle safely away from painted surfaces even with the handle stretched out. You can also reverse the handle to wash the sides of your vehicle easier. I could even see this mop being beneficial to those who may not be able to reach down/bend over and so on.

Detach and reverse handle (this changes the mop head angle):

The mop hold more than enough suds/water for lubrication to prevent any scratches, its very easy to control and seems quite strong. For me 9.99 is well worth the asking price.

It would be nice to see different types of mop heads (the covers).

    Nice review!

So, your comfortable that the synthetic mop is safe on the paint? How did the mitt wash out?

I was a little concerned at first about the mop but it loads up with so much water/suds I feel safe using it on my truck. That is another reason I would like to see a couple options on mop heads, you could pick what you felt was best for your application.

The soap rinsed out very well its easiest to remove the mop and rinse it out.

Sounds good so far. However, after you've used it a couple times, see if the synthetic fibers start to get matted and "rough" feeling. Also, closely inspect the mitt for dirt particles stuck to the synthetic fibers...... they tend to do that.

The true test of a product like this is how it performs "consistently" over a longer period of time!

I used the Versa-Angle Ultra Plush Wash Mop on my Black Hemi yesterday. I used it only on the roof and the hood. ( I used the the regular and regular and wide Versa-Angle Body Brushes on the remainder of the truck.)

For the past thirty years or so I have used nothing other than cotton wash mitts on my vehicles. (I bought a wool mitt this past winter to apply QEW.) I was a little worried about using an acrylic mitt because when I use one a heck of a long time ago it left marring.

Using an acrylic mitt on the end of a stick was an entirely a new experience for me. It was a little awkward at first, but I soon got the hang of of it. It made the job quite a bit easier. The mitt holds a lot of water/shampoo. More than the usual wash mitt.

I examined the finish carefully after using the Mop. There was absolutely no marring. I'll continue to use it on the Hemi but I think that I'll stick to using a regular wash mitt on my wife's Tacoma.

The Mop dried in a relatively sort period of time after I used it and rinsed it out. This is a definite plus for storage.

As an aside--I am amazed by the performance of the Body Brushes. I'll post more about them in another thread.

I have said it before and I will say it again, this is a winner! Thanks Meguiars!

I am surprised by how well the mop cover has held up, I have use it countless times and it still looks very good. Many were a little unsure but it really seems to be doing well. I always check it over good before its use to ensure nothing it locked in to the fibers of the cover, I have never had a problem. I will say I only use it on my roof, windows and bed cover as I find it easier to use a wash mitt on the easy to reach areas. This is a quality product!

Nice writeup , I picked one up last week and tried it out Saturday for the first time.
I wasn't paying attention and the head got flipped by my power antenna and left a nice black scuff mark on my white paint . ( it came right out ) So you can imagine I wasn't to happy at that exact moment . Overall the wash mop is nice , the only problem I see with it is the pin that holds the head on comes out while in use . Some how with the movement of the head the cap part of the pin works its way out , I don't know if any of you have the same problem but keep an eye on the part .

I would like to see a wool mit made for the mop .
Success is based on the quality of the job done !

I bought a cheap mop from target before Meguiars came out with the new mop.Needless to say the old mop is in the garbage.

I will picking up one of these soon. Again, I specifically mentioned to Mike about the lack of one of these mops last year. I am very glad that Meguiars listened.

My only complaint about the mop is it needs a extra wash head.

As I was washing the hood on my black Hemi, the pin came out for me too. (No damage, but it caught my attention.) I finished the truck with one of the versa brushes and a regular wash mitt. I put the handle back together after putting a little waterproof glue on the pin.

I still find the mop awkward for me to use.
