  • Just got Interior Quick Detailer

Well, I just picked up a bottle of the new Interior Quick Detailer from Rick Myer at Auto Detailing Solutions .

It's a very nice product, and you can tell how much lubricity it has while using it. It leaves all intended interior surfaces with a nice matte look and feel while adding UV protection. Here is a picture of it on my dash, instrument cluster and front console:

I tried taking a before picture, but it's been maintained recently enough you can't tell from the picture. Mainly I used it here to remove the dust that had settled, but it leaves the surface with a nice look and feel. On leather it also does a nice job of cleaning off any skin oils that got on it from use. I'm still trying to figure out the smell, but it is pleasant and not overpowering.

To really test it here's the before of my GEM's dash, you can see how it's dusty.

    And then afterwards.

It adds just that perfect amount of gloss, but not so much it's too much. This is a very good product I think a lot of you are going to like a lot. And the best part about it probably is it does not leave a smear of product on glass if you accidentally get some of it misted on the base of your windshield. This was a concern of mine misting it on my dash I knew some was going on the windshield and it wipes right off with no problems!
    Later,
    Ricky

How did it do on the silver part? My husband just brought me home a bottle (gotta love it, he know just what to get me!), but I've been working too late to get a chance to try it out. I've been wanting something to clean the silver trim in our Subie Baja...

Can anyone tell me if this is a replacement for a protectant, or more of a cleaner? And how about on clear plastic (Like a gauge cover)? And will it leave any slipperyness, or would this work good on a steering wheel, pedels?

I didn't know you could get it yet?!? You must have connections!

Looks good, how about the smell (in the car)? Good/Bad/Overpowering/perfect?

Think of it as a quick detailer for your interior. Just like you use a quick detailer on the outside of your car to remove light dust, smudges and fingerprints, you can use this product for cleaning on the inside of your car. It does contain some light U.V. protection ingredients.

You can use it on clear plastics and it won't leave a slippery surface behind.

            Hehe, I have my connections

No seriously though, he just got it in yesterday so I was one of the first to get some of it.

            electricgreen,
On the silver trim (it's just painted plastic, factory) it worked fine, but there's really no texture to it or anything so I'm not sure how it would compare to the Silver trim on the Subie(?).

As of this evening the scent is almost gone, but then again I barely had to use any. After thinking about it it really doesn't smell like anything I can reference it to.

And thanks for clearing up whether or not it could be used on plastic, that was the only thing I didn't do because it didn't say on the bottle anything about clear plastic, just plastic is all it said. I did use it on my stereo and it did a nice job.
            Later,
            Ricky

Just in case anyone doesn't know what a GEM is as referred to by Rick, here's a picture of Rick's GEM from his gallery, (it 's the vehicle on the right).

Hey Rick, what was your previous routine for quickly dusting the interior?

Is this any easier than just using a wet towel? Or often I'll spray a towel down with distilled water and then a light spray of a water-based dressing like #40 or 303. This works well for dusting and lightly dressing the interior. For example, you said the Insight dash was already nice and matte. Would a wet towel have worked as well?

I've also used Final Detail for this on occasion, also usually on a towel I first wet a bit.

I'm just wondering what the real benefit of this product is, or if it changed the way you do interiors or anything. Thanks!

In the past I have used a swiffer to get the dust off the dash, then every few weeks use W-dressing on the dash. The interior quik detailer adds a little bit of gloss, very little but the perfect amount, but the real advantage is you can spray it on all those surfaces and give it a quick wipe down. You would use it instead of multiple products. Over just wiping it down quik interior detialer also ads some UV protection, which is nice. Think of it this way, if you were going to a car show you'd bring quik detailer to do the paint, and you'd have quik interior detailer for your whole interior.
                          Later,
                          Ricky

I never thought of a swiffer in the car.... like the idea, I have a California dash duster but its at the end of its life.

I tried it the other day on my brother's Expidition. He told me not to kill myself cleaning it but he wanted it presentable to sell. I did a quick clean using the new Meguiar's Carpet Cleaner, which not only did a great job on the mats and carpets but the door panels and other vinyl as well. I then went back over the whole interior with the Interior QD and it did a great job on a couple small spots I had missed cleaning and left a nice satin shine (similar to #40) on the vinyl. I also like the clean scent.

My brother took a few pics and posted them with his Auto Trader listing. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...USDTEXT#vdptop
