    Leather Cleaner/Conditioner Comparisons - with pictures !

    okay here we go...i wanted to do a comparison test with all the products meguiars makes for cleaning and conditioning leather..i used a day planner that is actually made of real leather and found it perfect for doing a little test spot for 3 areas...i wanted to do this to show people what type of look all the different leather cleaner/conditioners leave behind...keep in mind i did not come back and wipe any of these products back off with a final wipe as i wanted to show their ability to leave "gloss" as most would say on the leather...do keep in mind if you come back for a final wipe, you can bring down the gloss..anyway here we go..

    oh by the way...i tried my best to get the lighting right with my "not so good" camera, i did my best to get different angle pictures

    Products Used
    Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditoiner
    Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner Step 1
    Meguiars Gold Class Leather Conditioner Step 2
    Meguiars D180 Leather Cleaner/Conditioner

    Note: Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner and D180 are both 1 step products, the 2 other gold class products are a step 1 and step 2 system..so i used them both on the same test spot to be fair

    Here are the items for tonight..



    Here is the test area



    To Ensure the surface was fully clean for fair test results, i went ahead and cleaned the leather with APC 10:1



    First up, Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner



    2nd, Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner (Step 1)



    Then, Meguiars Gold Class Leather Conditioner (step 2)



    And Last, Detailer Line D180 Leather Cleaner & Conditioner



    And Here we go, the final results, for all to enjoy..now everyone can know what type of gloss these products leave behind.

    How not busy are you?

    And thats interesting, I have had the 2-step look a bit duller than the Gold Class C/C. Though I believe it was a little rougher/more matte of a leather surface than your case.

      hahaha, NOT busy at all...theres nothing else to do at 2:47am when your winter break and your sleeping habbits are out of wack lol

      but on a serious note, it drove me nuts because i could never find a comparison test on leather cleaners when i was looking for the right one for me, so i figured i would do it myself now that i have all the products so when someone like me rolls along and wanted to know what type of look each product left behind, well now they can...what can i say ? i like helping out

      oh and to all looking...keep in mind different leathers will absorb these products differently, so take this as a general observation

          ahh your right lol i do have them but since i dont really ever use them i forogt they existed !

            Great review but now that you have compared the different looks and gloss levels of various meguairs products could you post a picture of all of them wiped down to reveal their true natural look. Its great contribution to the community to perform this review but omitting pictures or information on the looks after a recommended wipe down makes this review also someone incomplete. I'm sure I will not be the only person to ask this as you had.

            There is just something about applying a product with out wiping excess residue. The seats will look good and shiny after application but once sat on I would suspect that our clothes would remove some excess product and leave blotches of natural looking leather and shiny leather. It would be great to compare the two side by side, in an event that this could happen the appearance of the two would not be as drastic or ultimately avoided.

            Sorry if I'm being a pain.

                    I really like the two step Gold Class products. Have had good success using it on my interiors. The regular Gold Class (1 step) has a HORRIBLE smell, but works OK. I use it on my boots after cleaning them with APC+.
                    NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

                      Our new Gold Class Leather Gel will be in stores shortly. An addendum to this test is expected shortly thereafter.

                        Great test. I have yet to try out the D Line Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. I usually use Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner in the spray form.

                        Maybe its just me, but i noticed the spray leaves a higher gloss look than the wipes or cream. But a wipedown with a cotton towel takes care of that.

                          no problemo mike. and yes i did get some sleep lol
                          although D180 is my personal favorite, id certainly give the 2010 product a shot !

                          the spray and wipes do leave more gloss than the 1 step gold class lotion...any votes for a quick test between the Gold Class Lotion, Gold Class Spray, and Gold Class Wipes ?
