I think I made two mistakes. I underestimated the power of UC, and I either underestimated my technique or I overestimated the hardness of my clear coat. Either way, I have a new found respect for Ultimate Compound. The other day I happened to notice some water spots on my hood, so I went ahead and took some UQD to it. That quick detail wound up taking me an hour and a half. I went over the hood with Ultimate Compound (split the hood up into 8 sections, worked on a small area at a time then wiped off the excess), followed up with M07, then followed up with M21. I went ahead and clayed the hood first. I did a wash/clay/M06/M21 about a week ago, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to start with a clean slate. I was truly impressed when I was done. I would guess I got about 75-80% correction just working UC by hand. Maybe less, I don't know. I'm no good with guessing. A couple more passes would probably take care of the faint swirls that are left, but it was hot out (even though it was only around 6:00) and I didn't really feel like doing any more. So, I'll let the pics speak for themselves. I apologize in advance for my "macro shots", as they didn't turn out as well as I would of hoped. However, they are direct sun pics, so I think you'll get the general idea.

On a side note, completely unrelated to UC but I'm going to hijack my own thread, what is the best way to clean the area in between the rear brake light and the back window? This area is the one I am referring to:
