  • where to buy clay bar

i donno if this belongs in this section or not, but i stopped by all the local retailers (minneapolis, mn) and nobody carries the clay bar by itself. I swear they used to sell it separately from the kit. i already have the quick detailer bottle, so i dont need it. (and im going to use the DC 1 and 2 with nxt 2.0 to finish)

does megiuars sell the bar by itself through retailers? (i checked o'reilly's, checkers/csk, autozone, pepboys, and even fleet farm.)

No, but they will be starting to sell it separately in the spring.

          gtfourdreams-

I changed your links to the pictures the links led to. Just know you need to reach 30 posts before you can post click-able links.

As for if they will work, yes, and I suggest the BLUE mild bar.

How many times will a clay bar last for? I hate to do it, but the answer is "it depends." It really depends on how dirty the cars are that you use it on.

Basically use better judgment and when the clay starts to get really nasty and dark, toss it. If you EVER drop it, no questions asked, toss it.

My advice is to always tear off small chunks and keep the rest in the container so if you drop it you don't lose the whole thing in one shot.

          Hope this helps.

Your right, I momentarily forgot about the Pro-Line bars.

But you wont find them at the general auto stores like Advance, Pep Boys, etc. Have to look for a PBE store, or order online.

The new clay only should be out soon.

In the meantime, you can get the pro series of clay bars through stores like Murr said. Or, get the current kit, can't have enough QD, I have a ton and use it a lot

I like the professional clay bars. When you store the bar keep it in a ziploc type bag and give it a couple shots of the quik lube. Keeps it from drying out.

Depends upon how contaminated the cars are. A car parked outside all the time will tend to have more contaminants on it than a car parked in a garage all the time and thus the more contaminated car will load the clay up with contaminants faster.

                  From our FAQ

The life cycle of clay is limited. The best way to tell when it is time to get a new piece of clay is to check the color and texture of the piece you are working with. As you rub the clay bar across the surface of your paint, you are picking up bonded contaminants. After some time, you "fill up" the clay with these particulates. You can tell when the clay is "full" because it will have a darkish color and the clay might begin to feel rough to the touch. Another time to switch to a new piece of clay is if you accidentally drop the piece you are working with. When clay hits the garage floor, it will pick up large dirt particles from the floor, which can in turn scratch your vehicle if you continue using the clay. When your clay bar is "full" or has been dropped, we recommend you throw away that piece and utilize new piece of clay to avoid scratching the surface of your paint.

Amazon.com has the detailers clay (blue and red) for around $18. Free shipping over $25. A few bucks cheaper than I have seen other places.
