  • PlastX and 10 minutes with the PC

I picked up some PlastX last week just to see what it can do. I have and use the proline plastic cleaner, polish and detailer (17, 10 & 18), but just had to see what PlastX is all about. Today I finally had time and decent enough weather to give it a try. As anticipated, it's awesome!!

I decided to use it on my brother's neglected Intrepid. The headlights were so bad, he's been using his high-beams just to see. I pulled out the PC7336 (what fun is testing something without power tools???) , ADS 3" finish pad (black), a couple of MF towels to remove and clean, some #34 Final Inspection to dust the headlights and some #21 Synthetic Sealant just because I had it.

It took me longer to get everything to the car than it did to clean the headlights!

    Wiped headlights with #34
Applied 3 dots of PlastX to the ADS 3" finish pad
Applied pad to headlight on speed 5
    Two slow horizontal passes
    Two slow vertical passes
Wiped away very small amount of excess PlastX with MF
    Applied #21
Moved to second light while #21 dried.

Total time to apply PlastX and get great results 10 minutes (both headlights).

    Very Cool.

The haze in the after shot is the reflective coating worn/dulled inside the headlight. I can also now see the defects on the inside of the plastic.

Great product, get some and find a use for it.

    Looks good,

PlastX works pretty good with a DA Polisher.

Wow, great job! Not only does it look better but will make it safer to drive at night.

Nice job! I bet with a few more passes it would really clear up.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but the outside of the lens is clear and smooth. There is a little hazing on the inside I'll get when I take it apart. Most of the fog you can see is actually the not-so-reflective, reflective surface at the back of the housing. It's in bad shape. Looks like someone tried to clean it at some point and dulled or removed some of the shine.
