  • Disappointed with NXT Spray Wax

    Hi all,
After experiencing success using the nxt tech wax and speed detailer, I went to the store to get the spray wax to maintain the car in between waxing.
Sad to say that I should have used the time and effort to apply the tech wax instead.

First, I applied the spray wax using a MF cloth and spread it thinly over the paintwork. Left it to haze and started to buff using the MF Supreme Shine cloth. It took a lot of effort buffing the spray wax by hand! The product doesnt seem to want to be buffed and despite numerous wipes using the MF, I still did not manage to get the wax off!
Fortunately, I had the Speed Detailer and sprayed over the spray wax. Only then did I manage to get the shine I wanted.

The energy and effort required to buff a similar coat of tech wax was much lesser than this spray wax! Think I'll juz stick to the liquid tech wax and speed detailer from now on.

I know the directions say to let the product haze and then wipe then remove the wax, but I have found it much easier to simply wipe the spray wax on and remove it before it hazes.

humidity plays a big roll in waxing, polishing, ect, get you one of the cheaper humidity gauges and try the spray wax again, this time use a even coat applicator and wipe off with the micro-fiber towel. also keep in mind that any thing above 70% humidity don't work that well. and try the spray wax again you will love the ease and great shine it will give you and your car.

I had the same initial experience. Then I tried it again only this time I spread an extremely thin coat of NXT and it came off with ease. Thin coats make it easy.

Re: Disappointed with NXT Spray Wax

Getting great results with a spray-on wax, (any spray-on wax), usually comes down to a few things,

            • Using the spray-on wax on the right condition finish
            • Applying a very thin coating
            • Allowing the wax to completely dry to a haze
            • Using a premium quality wiping cloth

Using the spray-on wax on the right condition finish
Have helped people over the years that have used a spray-on wax on a car finish that hadn't been clayed, cleaned polished or waxed in over 2 years but was parked outside everyday and used as a daily driver. That's the wrong condition of finish for a spray-on wax. Spray-on waxes work best on a finish in excellent or new condition.

            Applying a very thin coating
Correctly used on a finish in excellent condition the layer or film left by a spray-on wax will be whisper-thin.

Allowing the wax to completely dry to a haze
This is normal for all Meguiar's waxes. When used in normal temperatures and if you apply to the entire car at one time, the spray-on wax should be dry where you started to apply it after you've gone around the car. Thus you should be able to start removing the wax where you started to apply it and then follow your path of travel.

Using a premium quality wiping cloth
A clean, dry plush microfiber polishing cloth should quickly and easily remove the whisper-thin coating of wax. Avoid cloth with a flat sheen like t-shirts, diapers or any other wiping material without a nap or weave pattern that is designed to help remove product off smooth surfaces.

Anyone that uses any Meguiar's product and is not satisfied with their results or the product is always encouraged to take advantage of Meguiar's satisfaction guarantee and return the product where they purchased it for a full refund. Sharing their experience on this forum is a bonus as we appreciate this kind of feedback to help us improver our products.

Huh. Thats to bad. I would implore you not to give up on the product as you really can get great results with this stuff. It would seem that I use NXT Spray Wax in a similar fashion as you do so I have seen the results of what this stuff can do.

              Give it another try.

Thanks for all the advice guys.
I will try using it again after my next wash.

Could be the humidity factor as we have very high humidity here in Singapore.

                  Hi guys!
I tried the spray wax again and followed the suggestion by fellow forummer
travisdecpn vbmenu_register("postmenu_176858", true); to wipe after applying without letting the product haze.
                  It worked!
                  Thanks bro travisdecpn.

Re: Disappointed with NXT Spray Wax

Is it OK to wipe the spray wax off immediately without waiting for it to haze? Would you still get the benefits of the Spray Booster Wax, or are you simply just removing it from the finish with no benefit?

IMHO, the NXT Paste works best in high humidity, no contest! Speed Detailer is also relatively easy to work with in high humidity.

If you are going to use the Spray Booster Wax in high humidity you must apply them very thin. A quarter of a trigger pull is the maximum amount you should apply to a yellow foam applicator pad. If you can see it, you have probably applied to heavy of a coat. If you get streaking, wait until the next day and use some Speed Detailer, and the streaks will be easily removed.

                        Thanks RamAirV1.
Yup, will try to spread it very thin the next time..
The combination of high humidity and slightly thick layer of booster wax could have caused the streaking when using the booster wax..most definitely.
Must follow the rule, "If you can see it, it's too thick."
