  • Here's Why I Rate NXT Durabilty Very High

In September of 2004 Mike Phillips detailed my then new 2005 Subaru Legacy GT, topping it with two coats of NXT High Tech Liquid Wax. Since then I have driven the car 36,000 miles, including winter trips between southern California and Cody Wyoming. As of August 2005, I relocated to Cody Wyoming and used the Legacy throughout winter.

I'm ashamed to admit that neither my Legacy or '05 F250 diesel get as much detailing as my Mach 1 Mustang. The Legacy and F250 are daily drivers and out here, that means two lane highways, road kill, gravel roads and flying debris. (On my first trip to Cody in Feb. '05, I had my windshield repaired TWICE for starbursts.)

I started my pre-winter detail on the Subraru and realized since Mike detailed it, I have applied exactly ONE coat of NXT Spray Wax since Sept. 2004.

The car is parked in a heated/insulated garage.

It was washed about once a week, except for winter (less often, just hosed it down at the do-it-yourself car wash). NXT wash.

    Last Touch applied after washing.

Dead bugs sometimes wiped off an end of day, usually taken care of during weekly washes.

After washing the car today, I clayed it and was amazed at how clean the clay was after completing the entire body. I was expecting much worse, thinking of what the car has been through. I just knew I was going to pay for my lack of maintenence - but I was wrong!

The horizontal surfaces were mildly contaminated - just a very light yellow accumilation on the clay. The vertical surfaced almost didn't even need claying. Even the lower doors and lower rear quarters (where dirt, slush and snow hit the paint) were very clean. I started with 1/2 of a new bar of Quick Clay and it's not used up.

Thank you Mike Phillips and NXT!

I'll post pics when I'm done.

I totaly agree! . while the look, slickness and beading can fall off if not cared for, I think it protects the paint wery well. Using it on wheels demonstrates this very dramaticly, almost all brake dust can be wiped off with a damp cloth for months!
VTEC: all the lag, none of the turbo

The Subaru cleaned up very well. With the exception of some road rash (paint chips and windshield pitting), it looks VERY good.

This time, I applied #21 and think it gives the car a different look than the NXT. I'm not saying it's better or worse, but the #21 looks different than NXT - it may be a little wetter looking.

      I'll post pictures soon.
