  • Nxt Tech Wax patches

Please help - I have a 6 month old Audi with metallic black (Phantom Black) paint, all original. I recently clayed and machine polished with M83/W8000 the paint to near perfection, getting it to better than show room condition, so that should eliminate one factor from the following problem.

After applying Tech Wax and buffing up by hand with the Supreme Microfibre, I find that there are patches in the finish - kind of like a stain of darker and ligher patches. This is quite apparent from close up on the hood and trunk. Serious rubbing does improve the situation but this cant be doing the paint any good. Reapplying does not seem to improve the situation.

I have noticed a similar problem with M21 too. Any idea's on what I am doing wrong, anyone else experieince this? I usually use Gold Class Car Shampoo, and not Nxt Shampoo, if this helps?

    Thanks!

Try applying a second coat and make sure you let the wax fully dry before wiping it off.

Thanks TH001 and Mike. I followed the link to the thread. Exact same problem. I assume it is not a very common problem though?

Out of interest, humidity is mentioned as a factor in the thread - right now I am in mid winter (S hemisphere) with an ave day time temp of 15-20 celcius and relative humidity of something like 15% - i.e. very dry. It also happened in summer - 35 celcius and the rainy season. I would guess that humidity is less of a factor then.

In temperature and humidity conditions like yours, you really shouldn't be having any problem. The two most important key influencers on the results of how your wax will appear when you wipe it off besides the correct surface prep before wax application is to apply and work into the paint a thin, uniform coating, and to allow the wax to fully dry before removing it.

After that, wipe off using a soft clean microfiber or 100% cotton towel and you shouldn't experience any problems.

Thanks Mike - By the way, not knocking the product in any way - it is a damn fine wax with serious wet look shine! Oddly, patches are not on the vertical panels. Either that or it's the light. I'll give it another shot this weekend.
