I am curious why Meguiar's decided to discontinue their #16 wax. Did it not meet environmental standards, or was it replaced by a new formula?

I used it and it looks like I sprayed another coat of clear coat on it. And it beads water really good and it's supposed to be self cleaning which means it's good winter wax. One reason 16 was canned because of the eviro regs that went into effect Jan 1 2005. It effected the whole industry so it's not just Meguiars.Last summer I went to my local PBE store which sells Meguiars along with car brite and 3M and just about everything that was car brite was relabed 2.0. I asked the reason why and was told the VOC laws. The other reason (and I could be wrong) was possibly economics, 16 wasn't really known to be out there (before the rush) like the other waxes.Yes you could buy it online but if you wanted to buy Locally you couldn't buy it at Pep boys you had to buy it at a PBE.So I think that they made a business decision and stopped it. Right or wrong that's what it comes down to. Listen I once had a Kodak Disk camera that I loved and they stopped making the film. Remember Beta tapes are supposed to be better than VHS but 20 years later what do you see.The fact of the matter is life go's on. NXT paste wax replaced 16 in the line up even thou 16 was a pro product. 26 is still out there paste or liquid and is best on dark colors.And the sealants 20 and 21 should out last 16 on paint.Comment
