  • My 1st post on MOL

Hey all, after lurking for the past few weeks, I finally decided to make an account and join the fun.. I recently corrected the paint[clay,Uc,Up&wax] on my 97' Cadillac Seville. I did it all by hand [I don't have a DA polisher] it took me 5 days to complete and was a ton of work but it was fun, rewarding & totally worth it.
I'd like to Thank the community here for providing a wealth of great information. I wouldn't have achieved the results I did without these forums, Meguiars products, their how to videos on youtube, and of course Michael Stoops!
Maybe I'll step up and buy a DA someday for optimal results, but I'm still new to this and I'm enjoying the learning process so far.

Glad you have made the jump and joined and more important posted your sucsess with a complete detail!

I along with the many great OCD MOL guys on here know how many hours it takes to comment to this great passion and sometimes days as in your case doing it all by hand but It seams the bug has bitten you hard to go all out full detail by hand but I bet when you finished and stood back to admire all your hard work that you had a BIG smile from ear to ear and a more appreciation and love if you will for your ride!!! You wouldn't have had taking some before, during and after pics of your caddie detail would you to post up, we all on here love pics especially a full detail by hand and by a new MOL memeber!

I had about a dozen pix I had taken of the the car soon after I bought it and washed it.. But none of them were "proper" up close pix [for example both fenders were so oxidized that they were rough to the touch and gave zero reflection when I pointed an led flashlight at the paint] it was so bad that I honestly wasn't expecting the results that turned out from the Ultimate Compound! Lol. Now that led flashlight is bright & clear in 95% of the paint. The 5% is in small parts like under the front bumper and rear view mirror... But I was so exhausted near the end I couldn't go any longer. Lol.

Thanks for the welcome Stang Crazy.
I'm currently using this through the iphone app and it appears a bit limited as far as customizing my profile and adding pix.. I'll have to check it out on the PC unless there's a way to do it from just the app.

Other than that this app works great! I love how I can just tap a button and it's all here to see.

Funny how something that can be pretty hard work can also be so much fun, isn't it?? It's also highly addicting, but it's a good kind of addiction. No, really. It is. Welcome to the forum!!

                      That's so spot on^
It's a great stress reliever and best of all you don't even need to leave the house I remember reading a thread where a guy was getting set to tackle a complete correction by hand as best he could.. You told him it would take the proper time and would require more work than some people might think. I think you challenged him by asking if he was really up to it! Lol.

Thanks 4 the welcome! Now I'm gonna go outside and wash my car. Lol.
