Hi, my name is Griffith Hawk.
I have been a long time forum reader, but not a forum poster. I’m changing that!
I will come out and say it, I am much younger than most most detailers, being only 16. Now, I don’t have the decades of experience that some of you have, but I have spent every given moment for the last two years learning everything about detailing and car care.
Needless to say I am absolutely obsessed with how my car looks (that’s sorta why we’re all here). So when I got my first car, my Mom’s Subaru Outback with swirls and scratches all over it, I took exceptional care of it with Meguair’s products, never went more than 2 weeks with out a wash, and a wax AT LEAST once a month. My car was stunning, well, for a 2000 Subaru that spent much of its life shuttling our two dogs it was stunning.
Then I was blessed with the chance to get my own car of my choosing. I was so excited and finally fell in love with a Stormy Blue Mica 2008 Mazda Miata (6 speed, of course) that a retired army pilot near us was selling for well well well below market value.
Unfortunately, he took exceptional care of the mechanicals only. The car was beautiful to everyone else but me. All I saw were the scratches and swirls covering the whole car. I treated her the best I could and made sure she was never the slightest bit dirty.
Then, I hit the enlightenment and, in my mind, became a full fledged detailer! I purchased my own orbital polisher. It was a Griot’s 6 inch, and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
Long story short, I’ve spent an incredible amount of time detailing cars since then. Now, I’ve even got a small weekend warrior business where I detail local cars to make money for all the detailing products I buy. It’s growing little by little, but I hope to be detailing for the rest of my life, it is a true passion of mine.
Thank you for all reading, I did not mean for this to turn into an essay. It’s easy to get caught up writing on these, isn’t it?
Thanks again all, looking forward toward many more posts and reviews
I will be posting my review of the Meguiar’s Microfiber Correction system very soon
(I was very impressed)
