  • Greetings from Maine

    Hi guys,

I've been lurking a ton since I bought my new car last week, so I figured I'd join! This seems like a cool place for car care guys to shoot the sh*t and exchange advice/ideas.

I'm a Honda Civic fan - I think my username gives that away, lol.

    I've had four now:

    1995 EX
    1996 HX
    2004 EX
...and now the brand new black 2013 Si.

....which is what led me to the Meguiar's forum. I want to keep this shiny black car perfect and I've seen a lot of good advice around here.

I'm not a total car care noob, lol, but I'm always willing to learn from those who know more than me.

Anyway! Here's the car in question.....

    See ya around!

    to MOL!

Car looks nice. Any issues with the paint, or are you just looking at regular maintenance?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Hi there, Davey! Thanks for the welcome.

Nah, no issues yet - thankfully. I'm just looking to gain knowledge, improve my skills, and talk some cars!

        Do you garage the car?

Hi, Stephan. Unfortunately, no - I don't have a garage. That would be really nice....

            Re: Greetings from Maine

No garage here either Black is a PITA but I'm on my 6th one, so...

You will definitely need some rinse free product so you can do quik cleanups. I use Meg's Rinse Free Express Wash for most washes (haven't tried the Rinse Free Express Wash and Wax). I mix a gallon of it up and put in a 3.5 gallon bucket with a gamma seal on it and a bunch of MF towels soaking in it. If I'm taking a trip or something, I bungee the bucket in the trunk along with some dry, clean MF towels for wipedowns if necessary.

Start thinking up a winter prep plan. I don't get a lot of snow here in central NJ but the salt, dirt and whatever they can afford to through all over the roads stinks whether it freezes, snows or does nothing.

            Enjoy your new wheels.

Thanks for the tips! ^^^ Two of my previous Civics were black, but it's been a while since I had a black vehicle. I'm realizing already how much of a pain it's gonna be. I cleaned and polished the car Saturday - and it's like I didn't even do it today (Wednesday).

I do have a winter plan, though. Store it! I lined up a truck for this winter, so I'm gonna store the Civic.
