  • Hello from Los Angeles

    Hello my name is Art,

I am a member of Auto Geek but i called Meguiar's directly and started asking a few questions. About the M101 and Meguiar's classes got brought up. I asked how can I sign up for there classes. They said to sign up for the forum and join the sign up list.

So I did and here I am. I want to stop by probably on a Thursday or Saturday. So more info on that would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Porter Cable and a Snap On rotary. I use 3M compound and poor boys, but the Meguiars 105,205 and now the 101 have really caught my interest.

So the 101 will be able to do the 105's and 205's job?

I want to go to the Meguiar's classes since flying to Florida is not on my to do list. And the Meg's location is 26 miles away. So i decided to join so I could attend there classes.

I decided to change my name because there was an article that mike phillips said to use your forum name as the same name of your business. So I am going with Pure Art lol

        Re: Hello from Los Angeles

Welcome. Somewhat neighbors. Just down the freeway. Head to a 101 class. There is a forum section dedicated to this.http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?110-Sign-up-for-our-Saturday-Class-Irvine-California Meguiars (Mike Stoops) shows how to use all products and it doesn't become a push for all the Megs products. I think they just let results speak for themselves. I don;t think you will learn anything different in the Megs class than you would at Autogeek other than the products used in class.

101 class is basic washing, care and DA work
Advanced class includes wet sanding and rotary

Nice name and that car looks amazing. More info?

          Thank you S word.

          It's a Lincoln Continental 67" (not mine, that's what I Googled) lol
I feel that posting what you do want will only help you achieve in getting it.

I just love Meg's products because they are so easy to obtain. And they have been around for long plus the name is something you can show off and that almost everybody recognizes.

I am already familiar with wet sanding and all. But I kind of want to start from the bottom and go all the way up. To see what other new things I can learn a long the way.

I did't even know Detailing forums existed. (I thought I was the only one that always wanted to "buff" something, I say buff cos that's a general term) I worked at a body shop and went from washing cars, to sanding the newly painted cars (used a DA to damp sand the orange peel) and then buffing them and detailing to Auto Body standards.

I have learned that is not True Detailing, only dealership and auto body shop detailing.

I'd like to find cars to do paint correction, but it has been difficult because people just are happy with a shiny clean car.

I am planning on going to the Pomona Swap Meet to see what else I can find. June 2nd

I love Auto Geek but they are so far away and even members are so far away. I was surprised to learn that Meguiar's is 26 miles away and that they had a forum as well.

            Re: Hello from Los Angeles

I thought I was detailing when i was just washing the car. Then attended 101 class. Holy cow it opened my eyes. I am not sure how I found the forum but it was definitely by accident.
The 101 class will teach you stuff that you wouldn't imagine.

You seem to have the range of skills and knowledge so it would be a great re-learn opportunity. I bet you will get like 10 things out of the class that you didn't know or never thought about.

June 2 I will be in Vegas for a european car show otherwise I'd see about heading over to Pomona.

Yeah that is what I am imagining. I have learned so much on AG, through the computer. But now i want to go learn so much more in person. And Meg's being so close will give me that opportunity.

How do you sign up for the classes? Is it a first come first serve thing? I saw the list but am I just supposed to put my name down and hope it gets picked?

                Re: Hello from Los Angeles

                Hi Art, welcome to MOL.

To sign up for a class all you have to do is respond to the appropriate sign up thread. The only classes where we actually choose attendees is the Advanced Class, and that's because we hold that class down to just 12 people because it gets so much more involved - wet sanding and rotary buffing.

                      Thank you guys!

Also is the M101 a mix up 105 and 205 per se?

What I mean is, if I was going to use 105 then follow it by 205, will the 101 let me combine these two steps?
