  • White Wax

Hi, this is Robert from the heart of the Texas hill country. While I'm new to this forum, I've used Meguiar's prodoucts for years. None better. I recently discovered Meguiar's "White Wax", and was totally floored. I own an '06 Cadillac DTS in a color called "White Lightning", and applying White Wax to the car, resulted in the most incredible finish I've ever seen on a white car. Congratulations to Meguiar's, one more amazing product.

      Re: White Wax

I just bought a brand new 2013 Nissan Sentra in Arctic White. I also bought this product, but have yet to try it out. I noticed today on my very first wash there are some brown specs in the paint that if I really put some elbow grease into them, they will come out. I'm hoping this wax will be abrasive enough to remove these stains.

        Have you tried claying first?

I am seriously thinking about it. The paint is rough to the touch. There is no doubt the car would benefit from a clay job. Once again though, time is very limited. I'd have to wash, clay, then final wash and call it a day until the next time I have time. Murr, what is the shelf life of clay? -Ed

Well, you mentioned needing some elbow grease to remove the stains. You may find that clay, or possibly something like IronX/TRIX is a much simpler solution.

I just put the clay in a zip-loc baggy with a spray of QD, and seems to last for a year or two.

Lol, then I think my sample is hard as a rock then. I guess if it's too hard it's no good so I'll have to buy some new? I have never clayed before so it's all new to me, but I did read up on the other threads on "how to." I just need to procure some patience. TRIX. What is this? It's a new one to me.

Well, brownish/orange spots on new cars are often rust, from rail dust during transport. White just shows them the most.

Claying is pretty quick (and no need to re-wash after), and if the rust isnt too bad, can take care of it. Just have to check your clay. If still in original packaging, it is probably fine if it feels like a firm putty. Just need a bottle of QD to go with it. I cut mine into smaller pieces, dont drop on the floor, etc...

IronX is a cleaner to remove the iron/rust (TRIX is a tar/iron cleaner) safely from the paint. Just spray on and stand back for 5 minutes, then rinse off.

                    Re: White Wax

Murr, you have always been very helpful on these forums. I took a hiatus for a few years (work demands) and now with a new daily driver (first NEW car in 21 years and white) I want to keep her looking reasonably well. I know it won't be perfect driving her 70 miles a day, but I am willing to try my best. Thanks again for your guidance and will keep you posted with the claying results!

One more question: Recommend a good recessed lug nut brush? A regular gold class wheel brush isn't cutting it and I do not want a build up of crud. I use P21S wheel gel.

                      Re: White Wax

I think that autogeek sells some sort of foam wrap-around type thing to put in and spin to clean them.

Otherwise, would be looking at a paint brush or something.

Just got a new pearl white Subaru, and I'm wondering what is different about White Wax that makes it more reflective on light color paints. Any ideas?

                          Re: White Wax

Its not more reflective... For the average Joe at home, white paint needs a stronger cleaner to look good.

Remember the main goal is to get the average Joe's car looking good... those more experienced detailers can fit it in where they feel like.
