Hi everyone,
I was first introduced to Meguiar's products back in the early 90's by Jim from Refined Motor Body Repairs here in Adelaide Australia.
Not only is he a gentleman but his work and love for his industry is second to none.
I recently purchased a new black Kia Optima and it came with the DISO as well as the 3 year 'paint protection'.
I needed to make a claim on my paint protection warranty as a result of paint damage possibly caused by brake fluid/diesel from other vehicles whilst driving in the rain on a long trip.
The first attempt at paint correction by a crash repair (NOT mine) resulted in severe swirl marks all over the car, and with the outline of the damaged spots still visible.
The second attempt the car actually looked pretty reasonable but after a few washed it became clear to me that all they had done was 'fill' the swirl marks with a glaze and the car looked worse than ever.
I decided that NO-ONE but me would ever the car again so after much research - mainly on this forum I have purchased a DA polisher (DAS6), as well as UC UP and UW, Wet look cleaner wax, polishing pads, clay kit etc.
I detailed my daughter's car whilst she was away on a cruise to get some practice before getting stuck into my own car
I was very pleased with the results (although I used the Menzerna sample kit - not my 'good' Meguiar's stuff)
Anyway - at the moment I do not have the time to do my own car so the other day I washed the car, clayed the bonnet and front guards and gave it a quick going over with the cleaner wax followed by GC Wax as I wanted to protect the front of the car before embarking on another long trip this coming weekend.
The result was outstanding given that I used very little pressure and moved the polisher quite quickly across the panels using only a polishing pad.
There are still marks in the bonnet (I did not expect to get rid of any really) and this has me a little concerned that the paint on my car is 'soft'.
I should be able to have it looking really nice using the Ultimate range of products however I suspect that the paint will swirl and scratch quite easily - only time will tell.
I do not have any before/after shots as I was only looking to protect, not correct so did not take any photographs.
I will endeavour to do so when I start my correction process as follows:-
Wash
Dry
Clay
UC
UP
UW x 2
To be followed up with regular UW and the odd cleaner/wax if required.
Thanks for listening
Regards,
Pip Poppy.
