  • Hello All

Hey everyone, my name is Jake but my friends call me Jack, you guys can call me that too it doesn't matter. Anyways, I enjoy spending time detailing my car and everything I use says Meguiar's on the bottle, never been disapointed with their products. I'm not a professional auto detailer, I just do it for fun. I have ultimate polish, NXT tech wax and Gold Class detailer and GC carnauba plus wax. I also have the ultimate wash and wax.
One thing I've been wanting to buy is the clay bar kit. I've never used a clay bar though so I'm a little worried about scratching the paint. I recently bought an '04 Mazda3 hatchback in a nice blue color and I already put a coat of NXT tech wax on it, and it made a night and day difference. Gotta love it! Any tips anyone has for me I'd gladly appreciate it as I'm always looking to improve on how to keep my cars looking great!

    to MOL, Jack!

My tips for clay are use enough QD for lube, knead the clay when the clay gets dirty to expose a clean side, throw away clay when you drop it. That's pretty much it. Oh yeah, don't be afraid of it. It's extremely safe to use.

Here's a good video about claying:

      Thanks, Marc08EX.
I have watched a bunch of videos on clay barring so I do have an idea of what is involved. It doesn't seem too bad I just gotta get myself to do it. I used my Ultimate polish by hand on the roof and it really kicked up the shine and cleared up the reflections, but when I looked at the pad I noticed it was a little on the dirty side. Same when I used the NXT on another pad to wax the entire car. It got dirty which is why I feel it needs a good claying before I go polish & wax it again later in the Spring.

I tend to break the clay into a couple pieces incase of dropping one. But it is quite easy really. Just buy and extra QD bottle if you want.

Yeah, definatley want to use either a cleaner/polish or cleaner/wax, and then wax after claying.
