  • And now! . . . Heeeerr's Scotty

Hi all! I've been using Meguiar's for several years now and love the products!

Had some issues with my 2004 Chevy and the clay bar brought out the shine on that one. My current Ford has a very noticeable shine on it that gets noticed most often at the car wash by the guys who work there.

My next new car, 2013 Focus ST, is being built next week so I decided to peruse this forum to confirm that it's ok to prep and wax the brand new factory paint. From what I've seen the answer is yes.

Meguiar's makes my Harley shine as well!

Anyway, I hope to get more pointers and tips and suggestions and ideas and hints and advice from everyone here.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, dont let the dealer wash it. Tell them to remove plastic only.

If everything is in good shape, something like:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. ColorX or Cleaner/Wax
    4. Wax - Nxt 2.0, Ult, Gold Class, etc.

    5. Maintain - Ult. Quick Wax or Gold Class Spray Wax after future washes.

makes for a quicker, but complete detail that covers all the steps.

Like Mat said ^^^^^Try like a rabid dog to NOT let them do a 'new car detail.' Sometimes they (the dealer) will just wash a new vehicle, but even then, wash with what? A brush, old raggity rag?

As to waxin' etc...a new cars' paint is ready to work on.

      Oh, WELCOME to MOL!

Thank you very much guys!! Very good info!

I've already talked to the guy at the dealer who takes delivery of the cars off the truck and he knows how geeky I want to be about this. My salesman is going to let me know what day the delivery will probably be so I can take the day off and live at the dealership that day.

So I think I'll bring my own towels and the items you listed above and do my own detail right then and there! They at the dealership know I'm crazy but I think that they think it's fun as well. So I'm sure they'll work with me on this, especially since I'll be taking photos showing the dealership and posting online. Free Advertising!
