Just getting started

I have a pearl white 2001 Volvo s60, my second car so far. I played around with the first car, 2001 Infinity i30t, by just keeping the exterior always wiped down, and using "all in one" products. I am making a transition with this car to take excellent care of it, and thought this would be a good tool to communicate with people who know what they're doing, and hopefully won't give me the answer "well the box doesn't say", just like every store I've been to. I was advised a few simple things, ie: Clay bar, wash, protect, etc, by a friend and was recommended this line of product. I went out and got a "New Car Kit" and a "Clay Kit" to start off. Still totally new to the majority of the products, and willing to take any advice from anyone who is more schooled on the subject than me (most likely everyone on this forum xD).

Starting simple and covering all the steps would look like:

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Cleaner/Wax or ColorX
4. Wax

I forget which products came in those kits.
