  • Product advice and recomendations

I just used your #105 and #205 and #26 combination for the first time with d/a machine on a Black 02 Infinity G20. The results were great. I did the job in the sun the Compound was hard to remove with micro fiber so I used some Last Touch to assist. If I must do work in the sun is there either a better way or different product that will come off easier? The vehicles we usually do are outside in the summer what can I do to make it go faster? I used a Griots 6" with CCS Yellow cutting pads first step, CCS white polishing and CCS black Finishing pads. I think I'm going to buy the Meguiar's DA with Micro-fiber pads to make the jobs go faster.

For express details I'm thinking to either use the:

1)HD Uno, or AutoScrub fine with NaNo Shine one step, as a clay type process with Sealantas an upgrade.

    2) or just spray wax like Last Touch or should I use Xpress Wax

    3) or your Finishing Wax with Micro fiber pads

    What do you recommend.

What are your thoughts on the sponge clay pads i.e. wonder sponge, speedy towels or Auto Scrub med with glide in place of clay, or Auto Scrub Lt with a wax or sealant as an upgrade?

Also, I'm doing the Mel Craig style Eco Wash Waterless low pressure with a Mytee Boss as a wash, which product do you have as a concentrate for use in this machine Ive used Eco Wash from Detail King, I see Chemical Guys has a few they promote with their enhanced pod. I think I'd rather try and use Meguires for everything what is your product Rinse Free, and how does it compare the DK Eco which is around $30 per gallon concentrate and dilutes down to around 64 gallons 2 oz per gallon? The reviews on Optimum No Rinse looks very solid also.

I need a compressor for mobile detailing which do you recomend I was looking at 5 gallon Wen $165 and or is a 2.6 gallon Makita big enough Makita $225, Also what do you think of the Tornador?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Re: Product advice and recomendations

We can't imagine using M105 on a black car in direct sunlight as being a fun way to finish a detailing project! If you're a mobile service and don't have regular access to a garage do yourself a favor and at least get a large EZ Up to get the heat off the paint. In many situations though, the DA Microfiber System seems to withstand direct sunlight and the associated surface heat much better than M105 does. That doesn't mean you can use it on paint that's hot enough to fry an egg, but it will behave better under higher surface temps than M105 will. Given that M105 was really designed for rotary use on fresh paint, but with broader usage being more than acceptable, and it was tweaked a bit to make it more user friendly on a DA, you're really asking a lot of it to withstand high surface temps!

The same goes with wax choice, although D156 Synthetic Express Spray Wax and D301 DA Microfiber Finishing Wax do work well under more extreme conditions than most of our other waxes will. Last Touch isn't really a wax, though, so you shouldn't be using / selling it as one, just FYI.

If the system Mel is selling is similar to another we've seen, whereby you're essentially using a rinseless car wash in a low pressure delivery system, then our D114 Rinse Free Express Wash is going to be your best bet. It's great stuff, dries streak free, has great cleaning ability, and doesn't contain any polymers that might impact your correction process following washing. At just one ounce to two gallons of water (more for very dirty vehicles) it's pretty economical, too.

As for the non-Meguiar's products you asked about, we'll let some folks who've used them chime in. We don't mind the discussion of other products taking place here, but we don't want to be the ones to make direct positive or negative recommendations on products other than our own.
