  • New member from Las Vegas - Help me with my silver car!

    Greetings,

My daily driver is a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. It's a fun little car to drive, and the first "sport compact" I've ever owned.

The car is silver in color, and of course that color is rather difficult to make pop. But, I'm hoping that with your help, we can accomplish that goal.

Here's a photo of the car:

I have just ordered a Meguiars dual action V2 polisher, along with a red, yellow, and black pad. I have some assorted Meguiars products as well, such as the Swirl-X 2.0, Ultimate Compound,NXT tech wax, etc.

Using just the Meguiars products, I'm sure this car can look much better and we'll 86 those swirls.

I plan on washing the car with some dish soap to strip any old wax/polish off.
Then using the clay bar, and washing again.
Removing the swirls with the Swirl-X and/or Ultimate Compound
    Washing again.
    Polishing with the NXT 2.0
Finally, waxing with Gold Class or something comparable.

What do you folks think? Are there any tips anyone could pass along?

    Greetings to you!

You have too many wash steps in there IMO. Actually, you have too many steps period. With the products you've listed, I would go:

    - Wash (doesn't matter if it's dish soap or not, since the clay will remove any previous waxes)
    - Clay
    - UC
    - SwirlX
    - NXT 2.0
    - Enjoy!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I appreciate the help and information! Nobody likes to do "too much" work at all, myself included.

I'm not opposed to picking up more products in an effort to achieve perfection.

Hi Mike, I appreciate the offer! I live on Eastern and Pebble, relatively close to the LVAC there.

Do you folks think it would be wise to put on a coat or two of wax after using the NXT? I've read that it's a sealant, not a wax, and to get your silver to look more "wet," a coat of wax can help considerably.

It's entirely up to you. Some people think that they can tell the difference with a wax appplied over a sealant, while others cannot. Being a silver car, it's less likely you will see a difference.

My best advice would be to try it and see if you like it! It all comes down to what looks good in your eyes..
