  • Greetings!

Can't imagine why it has taken me so long to join up ... I've been using Meguiars for at least 30 years. Having recently downsized into a condo with no garage I'm especially interested in protecting my cars from the elements. Also, I recently picked up a 1990 Sterling Silver BMW 325i that has been very nicely cared for by the original owner ... well, at least it was mechanically. It was kept under cover ... but I doubt that it ever had a coat of wax on it. It'll never be a serious looker but I'm hoping I can improve it and then stabilize it for the next few years. All of my detailing so far has been done by hand. I'm open to a machine but concerned that the older paint technology on this car will present some special challenges.

    Welcome to MOL!

That E30 looks fantastic for a 22 year old car that's been "taken care of" but not necessarily "pampered". How many miles on it?

You shouldn't worry about using a DA buffer on this paint, as long as you don't go overly aggressive with anything. Even Ultimate Compound on a yellow polishing isn't going to cause you any problems though, and it should help take the finish up a notch or three.
