Hi, Had to come on and give a thumbs up to the guys at Mequiars for their products.
I have an 06 GMC dually (plastic fenders) that I have had since new, going on 7 years now. I thought I was keeping it clean and new looking, but I was using a dish detergent to wash it, and I was using a soft bristle brush on an extended pole, I then used a (non Mequiars) wax twice a year.
Last week I washed it for the first time in a few months and to my dismay there were areas on the paint that were stained, It is a white truck, the stains looked like dirt that I had missed when washing, but the would not come out.
Along with the stains I had some black scuffs all the way around the wheel well on the plastic fender where I scraped my camper pulling into the driveway. On the other plastic fender I had some scratches, 3 scratches about 5 inches long where a rake ran down the side.
So, I did a search on the net on how to fix these issues and came up with the Mequiars site, I watched the videos then went to my local Wal-Mart and bought some Utimate Compound, a hand buffer, (extra pads) and a can of the Mequiars wax.
Although the process took a bit longer than what the video did to watch, and was not as relaxing as actually watching the video.. The truck looks almost new.
The scratches are gone, the scuffs from the camper are gone, the stains are gone and the marks from washing with the brush that I didnt notice till I started are gone.
The truck looks like its glass.
So, no disrespect meant to the competition that I was using but, I think I will stick with Mequiars from now on. Going to do the wifes car tomorrow.
One other thing, is there a product that I can use over the wax to really make the truck painful to look at when the light hits it? I want people to notice the shine, I want better than what comes off the showroom floor.
