  • New here- Need some input

    Hi,

Iam new to forum and little familar with product but not process. I plan to clay the car as it never clayed.
Generally I used meguiar wash for cleaning the vechile and used cleaner wax on top of that.

If I do something like below for summer is it good.
    1. Wash using Meguiars wash
    2. Clay with the help of detailer
    3. Using Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus Quik Wax

    a) Do it mandatory that I should polish the car between clay and waxing ?
    b) What will happen if I user cleaner wax instead of Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus Quik Wax

    Thanks

    a. It is good to have some kind of cleaning/polishing step after the clay and before the wax.

    b. Well, they are quite different products really.

The cleaner/wax has some mild cleaners and polishing oils, which is good for the paint. And then assuming you let it dry before removing, will leave a coat of wax behind.

The Quick Wax type products are really meant to be more of a 'booster' wax to a coat of wax that is already there. Esp after a future wash

So, the better plan really would be:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Cleaner/Wax
    4. Maintain - Quick Wax for after future washes.

Generally, Meguiars recommends two coats of wax, so very often here you will see people doing something like this:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Cleaner/Wax
    4. Wax - People will add a coat of a regular wax after the cleaner/wax. Something like the Gold Class+, Nxt 2.0, Ult. Wax, or other favorite.

    5. Maintain - Quick Wax

Just up to you if you feel like the extra step or not. I suppose even applying the cleaner/wax, letting it dry, and removing, and then applying a coat of the Quick Wax a little while later would still be an improvement.

Thanks Murr... I will follow the below steps

        1. Wash
        2. Clay
        3. Cleaner wax
        4. Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus Quik Wax

Interestingly my car color is SILVER and not black.. i dont know how much shine this process is going to bring...

        1. Do Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus Quik Wax will work for Silver colored car or only DARK colored are better ?
Do you have any other product recommend instead of Quick wac for SILVER color ?

        Thanks

It can certainly shine, just wont look as deep as a dark color.

The Gold Class spray wax will certainly work on your car. The other product to consider would be the Ultimate Quick Wax. I dont know that they would look much different.

If you have not bought any products yet, I might consider looking at ColorX instead of the Cleaner/Wax, and the Ult. Quick Wax would be the more durable option if you car is outside a lot.

Remember with the spray waxes, you dont want a heavy coat. Esp with the Ult. Quick Wax, you just want a mist or two over the entire panel (say for a door, or half of hood), then wipe around.
