  • Nood from FLA

    Another Floridian in the ranks.
    I just purchased a G110V@ with the 6 pack pads and a bottle each of 105 & 205.
Used them today on my 03 Mazda6 daily driver and couldn't be happier with the results.
I read on here for at least a couple of weeks and the info gleaned was invaluable.
The only other tool I have had till now is one of the Wen 9" things...total waste of time and money.
The G110V2 is plenty powerful for anything I'll ever do.
Great forum with a nice sense of community.

Be sure to pick up some clay for next time. And some wax of course....

      Re: Nood from FLA

Oh, I already have that stuff. I used Meguiar's Deep Crystal car wash, their smooth surface clay set up with Quik Detailer and Deep Crystal carnuba paste wax.
I had only halfheartedly clayed before but this time I did it right.
I have been doing my own cars, by hand, since i was a teenager. By the time I washed, polished and waxed by hand in a day, I was pretty well beat.
I've been looking at DA's for years but just now got one. I just didn't realize how much different/better they were than the old Wen I have.
I will take some pics as I finish up the car. It's about half done. I am off this week so I will finish it up. I intend to do my truck this week, too.
The car has a bit of a back story. It is a dark grey called Storm Grey metallic. It got severely water spotted with well water about a year ago and I used a hand compound by Turtle Wax to clean it up.
That made a mess of things so I ended up researching how to fix what I had screwed up and here I am.
What was really cool was actually getting results like I had seen in all the demos and you tube videos. The first time I wiped off the 205 I was smiling!
I had to drag the wife out and show her!
I have a dark red Nissan frontier that is begging for this treatment too.

          Re: Noob from FLA

Here is some before and after pics.
I hope they show what I was trying to convey.
          The car came out beautifully!

This is from the roof after wash, dry and clay. The fairly severe swirling and scratching is pretty visible.
This is from the rear roof on the drivers side and the whole drivers side was pretty much like this.
Like I said, I made quite the mess out of it.

This is after M105, M205 and carnuba. This was severely swirled but the pics I tried to get of it didn't come out very well.
          There are no more swirls.

Passenger side. This car is almost 9 years old and has about 145K on the odo.

I couldn't really take any outside as there was no sunshine and it was raining intermittently.
Like I said, I am pretty darned happy with how this came out.

            Re: Nood from FLA

Looks great. Just the mild cleaner in the future should keep things looking good.

Have you looked at the proper washing techniques as well now?

Some of the swirls looked to be in a line? which would indicate an automatic car wash...

              Thanks Murr1525.
I think the straight line imperfections are from poor technique with the original compounding.
              I wasn't wax onning-wax offing properly.
