  • Hello From Yellowstone

Hey guys I bought a 2003 Fifth Wheel that I have had to do maintenance catch up from the previous owner. I have put on a wet bolt system, new shocks, gone through the brakes and axel bearings, completely sealed the roof and painted the under belly. My wife and I full time RV and travel most of the summer and return to texas in the winter. I have a nice fifth wheel but it has oxidation on the gel coat from being neglected. I have a cheap orbital buffer to keep my dually looking good, but have never tackled fiberglass oxidation, until now.

    Welcome to MOL!

You'll find that gel coat is much harder, and a lot more porous, than automotive paint so that orbital of yours might be challenged by that finish. We do make a complete line of Marine/RV products designed specifically for use on gel coat, taking that hardness and porosity into account.

Welcome to the Forum. I too am an RV fulltimer. 16 years now in a Beaver motor home. Keeping gelcoat looking good is a daunting task. I highly recommend the G110 DA. Once you get the oxidation cleaned up, try Flagship Premium Wax for a finish. I'd also recommend staying away from the vinyl graphics with any wax/polish. It tends to dry them out and cause cracking. Some vinyl is OK to wax but there is no way to know unless you can track down the manufacture of the vinyl graphics.
