  • Cadi water spots

    Hello All,
I have a Cadallac Escalade, Silver, with bad water marks on the body and glass that won't go away with regular washing. I was able to get the spots off my chrome with a chrome polish. How do I handle the windows and the paint?

I would first try using clay and see whether these water spots are sitting on top of the paint surface. If that doesn't remove the water spots then it means that they're etched in your paint. Like what you did to your chrome, you need to use a polish to remove these water spots. I would suggest using ultimate compound to remove these water spots. Don't forget to put a little passion while working the product in.

    Hope this helps.

As Marc points out, you're going to need a paint cleaner of some sort in order to do to the paint what you did to the chrome. Obviously you do NOT want to use the chrome polish on the paint, but you can use the paint cleaner on the glass. That is a very common practice and it usually gives excellent results. Ultimate Compound is a great choice here, but keep this in mind: paint is not as tough as chrome and it's possible that the minerals in the water spots can etch pretty deeply into the paint. Water spots can be very easy to remove, or downright impossible. It all depends on the minerals in the water, how long it's been on the paint, whether it all sat out in the sun on a hot day while the water was drying, and how the paint responds to all of the above.
