  • G'day mates, hello to everyone from Sydney Australia!

Hi everyone, really glad to be a member of this fine forum. My name is Peter and my username is my car, namely, Ford Focus RS, which is a European hot, and I mean really hot, hatch. It's a beautiful car and a very rare one for us in Australia. Naturally I want it to look good, in fact , better than good as the car is a showpiece and, indeed, a minor masterpiece. I turned to Meguiars for the job. I've been using Meguiars for quite sometime and absolutely love the results it gives. In other words, it's a pleasure to detail this car. So in two respects I feel lucky, in that I own a car that I love and use products from Meguiars that I love to use. I've been a lurker here for far too long and it was about time I joined and participated in the fun. I've learned how to be a good detailer, using good products and equipment, with good technique from you guys on the forum. I thank you all for that.

The best thing I did was to wash and wax the car from the first day when the paint was in pristine condition (still some 'orange peel' though, but that's ok) with NXT wash and NXT tech wax 2, with quality clothes. Beautiful! and the car has remained that way since. The real secret is that when people stand there gobsmacked by the car, they don't know they are also admiring the quality of the Meguiars wax. I own all the gold class products, which are outstanding and my personal favourite, the NXT products and Meg's #7 glaze, # 34 final inspection and, of course, the very fine #26 wax, amongst other Meguiars products. I think in terms of appearance alone, the gold class products make the car look the most stunning, but for different reasons, moods and even whim, I like to use the other products too. I've yet to use the Ultimate wax but I'll buy it soon and can't wait to try it out. Just one question, which wash would suit this wax the most??

Here are a couple of picture of the RS

This one is with #7 glaze, #26 wax and #34 over the top.

Very jealous of your car... wish we had them stateside! (We get the new ST soon and the future RS though!).

As for what wash is best, it really isn't going to be terribly vehicle specific, but more personal preference. If you like the results you get from the Gold Class soap or NXT, feel free to stick with that. You may also want to try the new Ultimate Wash n Wax.
