  • hi, meguiars vs other brands

    Hi,

I have been serious about polishing and waxing my car for about a month now and am always learning new things and trying to perfect my car detailing. This forum is great and I have learned A LOT just by reading the different posts.

My first wax I bought about a year ago was by black magic (i think b/c it was on sale) and so that was what i was used to. I then found this forum and saw that polishing and waxing (along with clay, etc.) is something that people are very interested in (as am i). My brother and law had some bottles of Meguiars polish and quick wax and so I gave it a try.

The results I found was that Meguiars is on a different planet compared to black magic and probably any other brand. I was very impressed when I polished and waxed my car and before I thought that wax was just wax and all companies were basically the same but that is not the case.

Anyway, I love cars and especially when they are taken care of internally and externally as it is becoming my hobby.

So, one question I have, is meguiars that much different than other brands?

    thanks,
    Andrew

Re: hi, meguiars vs other brands

I think you would need to list some specific product names for an informed answer, but Meguiars does own several proprietary patents on leading edge technologies such as non-diminishing abrasives (SMAT) in their line of both consumer and professional (Mirror Glaze) lines of polishes and compounds, and they just introduced their new DA Microfiber system that boosts the cutting power of ordinary dual action polishers to rival some rotary polisher capability.

What really sets Meguiars apart from the competition is the affordable price point that keeps all of their consumer line products, and most of their professional line products, within the reach of both pro detailers and weekend warriors alike.

And with SEMA coming up next month, I can't wait to see what they will introduce for the 2012 season!

I used professional car glaze #5 and the quik wax spray (its what my brother in law had).

I plan on buying ultimate wash and wax, show car glaze #7 (polish) and high tech yellow wax #26
