  • Hello Meguiars!, I just started detailing and I would love some guidance.

Hi, I have always been interested in cleaning cars. I would always wax, vacuum mats floors, condition leather, armor all dash, and apply a simple coat of wax and I have to say the car looked brand new. Now as a summer side jobs i have started detailing others cars.
When i stumbled into Meguiars products i had no knowledge that there was anything I could do to the paint other than wax. Now I am aware that polish will enhance the colour and certain compounds/cleaners will remove light scratches. I would love to ask some questions regarding the use of certain products as alot of the information provided on the labels are vague and I know that there is no one who knows better than experienced users. The customers whos cars I do are very satisfied with my work, I want to do something about the odd scratches I encounter.

My summer mission though is my fathers black BMW 335i. There are some medium to heavy swirl marks/haze on the hood and no matter how much you wax the paint does not look good. I attempted to use Turtle Wax polishing compound (liquid) on it and i had minimal results.
(But I have to say the product took out most scratches very well and got rid of the swirl marks on my uncles dark cherry MDX) I also should note that I work by hand and I am aware that a machine buffer might be the only option to remove these. So I will do my best but I really dont want to make it worse! I will be heading over to the detailing section to ask my questions.

    Thank You
