  • First Post and Question

    Hi Everyone,

This is my first post and would like some advice.

First of all, I use nothing but Meguiars products on our three vehicles. Great products!!!!

I have a 1994 Mustang Cobra (Rio red) and it was just buffed and waxed yesterday. There is a lower side panel on each side that the Clear Coat has worn off. Is there any Mequiar products that you would recommend to protect and shine these panels?

    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I do agree that Meguiar's offers great products and they are great products!

What do you mean that the clear coat has worn off? Do you mean that the clear coat has failed? Peeling? Or is it just badly oxidized?

If the CC already failed or is peeling then there's nothing you can do about it. The clear coat is the layer responsible for giving out the gloss, depth, and reflection of your paint's base coat. Without this, you can't get any shine with waxes... You have to respray that panel with a layer of clear.

If the CC is just badly oxidized then you have to polish out the paint surface with Ultimate Compound then follow it up with Ultimate Polish then top if off with your favorite wax.

Maybe you can post a picture to help us diagnose the problem?

    Hope this helps. Good luck!
