    I love my X

    Greetings from Wisconsin, I am new to the forums but looking forward to showing both my X's some serious love. I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra & a 2011 Nissan Xterra (I think you get my passion by now) 2003 is black with light to moderate swirl marks but otherwise looks hardly shows its age, 2011 is 3 months old & like a dream come true. How do I bridge the gap of caring for both? I have never use a rotary buffer but the time has come, looking at using the PC 1424 XP along with one of two systems either
    #83 polish/cleaner
    #7 show car
    #21 mirror glaze
    or getting the Solo System
    I am looking to step up which system would work best to bridge the gap between both to could you please give me some help so that I don't screw things up, thank you ahead of time!!

    I presume that you meant to write that your polisher is the PC 7424. If yes, then what you have is a dual action polisher, not a rotary, which is good, because rotarys take a lot of practice before they can be used safely on cars. Guys like us do a lot better with DAs.

    You definitely do not want to use the Solo system, as it is designed for rotary polishers. Instead, look into Meguiar's new Microfiber Correction System. There are several recent threads devoted to this system.

    If you decide against the microfiber system and decide to stick with regular pads (what pads do you presently have?), then consider using Meguiar's Ultimate Compound/Ultimate Polish combination. Both products are locally available.

    If you want to stick with M83, then you'll also want to get a bottle of M81. M81 is needed to remove any marring left behind by M83. The M83/M81 is a good combo especially for single stage paint systems. Using M81, you will not need to use #7, as M81 is already rich with Meguiar's "trade secret oils."

    And remember: Always do a TEST SPOT first! Figure out what polish or combination of polishes, combined with proper technique, works right on your car before polishing the entire vehicle.

    M21 is a very good choice for your sealant, but there are many good LSP choices available to you. On my black S2K I prefer carnauba waxes during the non-winter months. They do not give you the durability of protection that a synthetic sealant provides, but the look is a little deeper and richer (in my eyes).
    Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

      Well first thing is to welcome you to the forums. This is a good family friendly place with plenty of great info. Second item is Al hit it out of the park with his post. Using the 7424 xp with the new MicroFiber system will work great on both of those X-machines.

        I have nothing yet, just getting input before the investment! appreciate the advice so far & I look forward to sharing my road to X happiness with you all. Yes it is the PC 7424 xp that I am getting I have no pads or compounds yet just a desire for a deep corrected shine on both of my X"s
