Novice questions

Hello Anybody:

I would like to ask someone in the know a few questions about my car. My 1998 Altima has been neglected for a long time and my wife would like me to take better care of it. Altough I try to maintain it mechanically, cosmetically it leaves alot to be desired. The finish is faded and rough and on the rare ocassions when I do wash it it doesn't shine very much.

I washed it today and stated to apply the clay bar kit and was amazed by how big an improvement it is starting to make. I am not even half done yet but would like some tips on how to go about trying to return the paint to the best possible condition I can. I think there is still some hope but I am not sure what I should do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Your car is in need for the entire paint care cycle:

1. Wash
2. Preparation - clay, clean
3. Polish - optional step
4. Protection - waxing
5. Maintain

Will you be working by hand or with a car polisher?

Any chance of adding pics? That would help a lot probably.

Esp at this halfway point, etc.

I would probably be wanting Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish on the shelf, and then a wax of your choice.

And of course there are the products to maintain in the future, and wheels, interior, glass, etc, etc.

Also you will want to look at how you wash in the future, so you dont hurt the finish again. Two buckets, Gold Class soap, good quality towels, mitts, etc.
