Hello.. Hillclimber here. Wife has a 2000 Subaru Outback station wagon.. She loves it, but. I cleaned it thoroughly, and waxed it and all went well except. Only the hood, not the rest of the car, has thousands of tiny points that look to be "in the paint". I think it's in the clear coat. It seems to be a painting defect rather than an invironmental issue, because it is universally spread over the whole hood. You have to look fairly closely to see it, but it is especially visible when waxed.. So I haven't waxed the hood since 2005, and instead just wash it well every Saturday.. It seems that it feels rougher to the hand after it is waxed, but maybe my mind is saying that because I see the defects more clearly.

My 2000 Burgundy Suburban had lots of Pine tree sap, and I'd like to fully restore its paint.. what to do about the sap?

Well, I'm old enough to not know how to post pics, but I doubt it will show up anyway.. Oh, my daughter says she can post it so I'll see if I can capture the image. It'll be a little while.. Thank you Murr..

Welcome to the forums!

My wife's truck had a lot of dried on pine sap spots and the only way we could get them off was with a small plastic scrapper. We had to get pretty agressive with the scrapper but once through the hard outer layer of the sap most of the spots popped right off. We also weren't too worried about minor scratches as I am in the process of buffing the entire truck anyway.

Sorry Murr, I have Ubuntu, and we can't find a way to make photo bucket work on it.. Our oldest son is going to partition (?) off and re-install Windows XP Pro one of these days. Then I guess I'll be able to use photo bucket, and play my racing games and Tiger Woods (boo) golf..

It looks like that will have to do for me also.. I've got everything but the clay bar but I'm still worried about the Subaru's paint.. Not too concerned about the Suburban, but it's paint is pretty scratchy and will really show the effort put in it..
