Hello members, my first visit to the site, I'm here because I'm seeking advice on this restoration job I'm doing to my mustang. It has been repainted & the basecoat paint was combined with pearl & finished over w/ clear. It wasn't color sanded so I've sanded the entire car & buffed to a great shine, no visible scratches, but this is where I need advice as to what to use to seal the bare paint. I did use meguiars # 85 compound, then 3m finnese compound, then an orbitial polisher w/glazeing compound to finish. What's next? any help ? thanks, Jeff.

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online, Jeff.

    I'm a little confused.

If I understood correctly the base coat wasn't sanded so you just wet sanded the clear coat, right? Then you removed the sanding marks with M85 Diamond Cut Compound, used 3M polishing compound to remove swirls and restored gloss with the glaze.

You said that there are no defects visible. I think you're done and your paint is fine. Now you just need to wait, at least 60 days, for the fresh paint to fully out-gas and you can protect it with a coat of wax.
