  • Newbie from Leeds

    Hello all!

I'm Stuart, 24 from Leeds, UK. I'm a self employed Computer Support Specialist and also learn and teach Tae Kwon-do. I'm currently driving my dream car - Peugeot 406 Coupe 3.0 V6. I'm getting into detailing because I love doing jobs where you can actually see a difference. I suppose if I really wanted to see a difference in my car I'd have gone for Polaris Blue or Cosmos grey but instead I chose satellite grey (silver) lol. Oh well! If you're interested in seeing my pride and joy you can do here.

    Take care
    Stu

    Hi Stuart,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online.

I even remember the previous version of your car, Peugeot 405, which sold very successfully. But the 406 looks definitely better.

Thank you, I think it looks nicer than the 407 Coupe also. Apologies for the large picture. It was my intention to post a hyperlink to it rather than force you to look at a large pic but I see that hyperlinks are not allowed if you've not posted 30 posts lol. Not to worry - just means people will have to look at my Italian beauty

Greg that bring back memories. My parents had a 405. And it was very successfull in the UK. Not a fan of the newer Peugeots.

Thank you Rapport25 - Yeah I love it. Bit quirky - Italian designed but with dodgy french electronics . Good strong engines though and there doesn't seem to be that many around in the UK. I'm lucky if I see 1 every 2-3 weeks! People keep writing them off /facepalm

We don't see Peugeot cars in the USA at all now.
In the 90s they were still around.

To be honest Greg you are not missing much. The later Peugeots are not so good. I seem to remember a few months ago reading on here that a guy had a Peugeot RCZ. I think it was in the USA. Looks a bit like an Audi TT or Nissan 350Z.

I have been reading that Peugeot are trying to gain back the image that they once had hence the new RCZ.

                        Did Peugeot merge with Citroen?

I know that Renault purchased big stock percentage of Nissan and designs some cars for them.

We basically only have German and Swedish cars in US from European brands. Some high end/ high performance luxury cars from Italy and England as well. And many young people get Mini Coopers after BMW put them into their chains.

Sorry Greg, but you did ask

Peugeot and Citroen are owned by a company called the PSA group and have been for a few years.

Basically all share the same engines and floor pans etc... Peugeot 406- Old Citroen C5. Peugeot 407- New Citroen C5 and so on.

The same for the VAG group VW AUDI SKODA SEAT.

Basically all share the same engines and floor pans etc...VW Golf-Seat Leon- Skoda Fabia. Audi A4- VW Passat- Seat Exeo and so on

You are correct about Renault. Also alot of Nissans use Renault engines. Like the 350z's.

Also Peugeot/Citroen use the mini engines.

                            Thanks for explaining that.

It saves them a lot of money by sharing the same parts/ platforms.

Now VW took over Porsche so we're gonna see some smaller luxury cars as well. I think Volkswagen really wants to become World's No. 1 car selling company and take over Toyota's top spot. We'll see how it goes.

                              Thanks for sharring Greg.

I know the VAG group own VW,Audi,Seat,Skoda,Bentley,Bugatti & Lamborghini. And now Porsche!!.

Its strange as I know that VW sharred the VW touareg 4x4 platform with Porsche on there Cayenne 4x4. Seems to be a common trend with most manufactures these days.
