  • Mike from Houston TX

Hello MOL members. I decided to join after days of browsing the forums and reading up on consumer line products. I now have a full arsenal of Meguiars products.
    Swirl X
    Scratch X 2.0
    Ultimate Compound
    Hot Wheels/Rims
    Leather Wipes
    Interior Wipes
    Foam Applicator Pads
Cleaner Wax (I bought that after a man hunt for the foam pads)
    Ultimate Quick Detailer
    Ultimate Quick Wax
and I have more Foam Pads and Meguires Micro Fibers on the way

if you haven't stopped reading yet....
I'm 19 with a big passion for cars.I'm slightly new to the compound side of detailing but, certainly not a novice to the other aspects. For the record I drive a 2009 Mustang GT Coupe. With a handful of exterior and interior mod's. I purchased UC Scratch X and Swirl X in hope of getting the cob-webbing out of my car due to some half-a** washes that were done by the dealer and myself probably :-p and I finally got tired of looking at them

It took me forever to just complete my hood this weekend.I did a test spot on half of the hood scoop and after 3 applications I saw amazing results. So I did the left side of my hood and it looks great. I see a couple of light scratches but it was from one of the micro fiber towel edges and I quickly corrected my hand placement after that. But the next day my dad said I should use the orbital so I did on the right side of the hood and doing it by hand is definatly better so this weekend I am going to repeat the process on that side of the hood and also get some of the isolated scratches out of the left side.

With this said I am proud to be a Meguiars user and testimonial. These products are great when using technique, proper washing drying etc., patience and a lot of time. I find making my car look even better as being fun not as a chore.

Thank you MOL for reading my novel of a first post and I will be on trying to pass on knowledge as well as take some in.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Welcome to MOL!

Great first post. After time you're time consumption and how long you are working on a vehicle get less and less. You will learn different "tricks" and speed will increase.

Welcome, Mike! The regular random orbital buffers aren't strong enough to work with the compounds, as I guess you figured out. A lot of people here use a dual action polisher like the g110v2, but working on it by hand a section at a time will probably get you there at the rate you are going. Sounds like you're doing great! You don't know what an arsenal is yet, though, but you will, trust me.
