  • New to forum, need help with new black metallic

Greetings! I love Meguiar's. Period. Have a new Ford Edge, Black Metallic, only 150 miles on the car.
I need advice about the right way to begin. Have been reading the forum, and have noted an occasional comment regarding metallic paints as if they might be treated differently? So off I go to keep reading this amazing site! Thanks in advance for all the tips!

Re: New to forum, need help with new black metallic

Welcome JillRN. I've been a member for about a month now and holy smoke I'm learning lots. I have a black metallic finish too on my 2008 GMC Acadia. However the previous woner really didn't take care of it so it's up to me to get it looking right. Since you have a brand new Edge I think, IMHO that if you clay bar, polish, and then use Tech Wax 2.0 I think you'll get the results you want. Unless you have swirls...then it's a whole new ball game.
Seeing their heads turn as you drive by is payment enough.

No, metalic paints will be treated the same.

The black metallics look GREAT when cleaned & properly waxed. I have a customer with a 2003 Pontiac Vibe that is black metallic. It is really a sharp looking ride when cleaned up.

Thanks for all the comments! If there are any new members reading this, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start. I went to the 'How To Videos' thread and watched How to Wash Your Car-Two Bucket Method with Mike Phillips. Wow! After 40 years of driving and detailing, I learned tons of new tips! (I also learned what Grit Guards are!)
