  • Just a newbie getting started

I have never had to use a forum like this and am having issues with getting a "clean shine." No matter how much I rub, buff and change towels, I still get this oily residue after using NeXt. Any help?

Some more info on your detailing process would help most, all what products and steps you use.

It sounds like the wax is not drying, although poorly prepped paint can also make it harder to apply and remove.

Could be a couple of things:

If the paint is not truly clean and free from bonded contaminants then any wax is going to be more difficult to apply and remove. Depending on the age of the vehicle these bonded contaminants can be quite severe and a clay bar treatment is highly recommended prior to waxing.

If you're not letting NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 dry sufficiently, even on perfectly prepped paint, it can lead to smearing or streaking. People used to using old school carnauba paste waxes sometimes struggle with the idea of applying a wax to the entire car and then letting it dry for 30 minutes before removal, but that really is the best way to use NXT. If you apply it to just one panel at a time and wipe it off right away it won't be fully dry - not even close. Also, if you're applying it at all heavy it can lead to longer drying times and more difficult removal. A properly applied coat of NXT, meaning very thin and uniform, that is allowed to completely dry will wipe off with almost no effort. This is not unique to NXT by the way, the same holds true for any of our waxes and sealants and if you read the instructions from any of our competitors they'll tell you the same thing (other than the few exceptions that are wipe on, wipe off products - but those are very few indeed).

Read through the 5 Step Paint Care Cycle for more information, including some images on what a properly thin application of wax looks like.
