  • Hello from NC

    Hello everyone.

I picked up my 2010 G37 Black Coupe Friday and detailed it on Saturday.

1- Wash with Gold Class Car Wash
    2- Clay Bar
    3- Wash & Dry
4- NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0
    5- Ultimate Quik Detailer

This Friday I am planning on washing and adding another coat of NXT to make sure I got everything.

On Saturday I will add a coat of Gold Class Carnauba Plus and see how it looks on black. I will do a small section first and see how much it helps.

My question is it ok to add a coat of NXT on top of this and how long should I wait. I realize it’s probably not necessary but I was thinking about alternating between the two each time I waxed the car since I received both as a gift.

Hello from Raleigh. Are you planning NXT, Gold Class, then NXT again?

There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Yes that's what I was thinking about. It depends on how the Gold Class looks on top of the NXT on black. I wanted to get 2 coats of the NXT on and then put on a coat of Gold Class.

I enjoy detailing my car. The problem is I am not sure how much of the NXT I would be removing, if any, when I applied the Gold Class over it. And how much of the Gold Class is removed when applying the NXT on top of it.

Since the carnauba wax only last 6-8 weeks I would need another coat of Gold Class then. The problem is how much of the NXT is still on the car. Since a sealant should last 4-6 months or so I guess I could add another coat of NXT then.

“A carnauba car wax finish will wear off in approximately 6 to 8 weeks. It depends heavily on the climate in which you live and whether or not your vehicle is garaged. Daily commutes in a hot, humid climate mean a shorter life span for your carnauba wax coat

A premium paint sealant can last 4 to 6 months, sometimes longer."

BTW - Thanks for the welcome.

I just read Mike's threads on Topping NXT and Layering which kind of answered most of my questions. Also read a lot of the Detailing 101 threads.

Having used Zaino for the past 7 years on my silver 03 G35 Coupe I was just wanting to make sure I was on the right page with these new to me products.
