  • unwanted sparkles in paint

I am a professional detailer and recently I polished (cleaned with 3m Perfect IT and a foam pad and a Mikita High speed) a 07 Victory red Corvette.
After cleaning the Corvette I noticed little circular sparkles over the entire car. I asked the owner what he used on the car and he said Meguiars Cleaner Wax.
He waxed his car every two weeks for almost two years.
Has anyone ever seen anything like I have described?
You only see the very, very tiny circular sparkles when in the direct sunlight. Looks like a metal flake with out any color.
So far only wet sanding seems to be removing the sparkles.
I do not feel anything on the paint. If you have seen this or anything like it please email me with what you might have done to get rid of these tiny tiny sparkles.

Is there any way you can capture an image of these sparkles? There's nothing in our Cleaner Wax (consumer or pro) that could be causing this, and a rotary application of 3M Perfect IT would obliterate anything that was left behind by the cleaner wax.

Are you seeing this uniformly over the entire vehicle, equally on the vertical panels as on the horizontal panels? We're thinking it's some sort of fallout that occurred somewhere along the line, but that would be predominant on the horizontal surfaces. Still, without being able to see this phenomenon it's hard to say for sure.

      Mike,

I do see this uniformaly over the entir car. I thought it could be some sort of fallout as well but you can't feel any thing. I tried the clay bar first and that did not work.
I will be revisting the vehicle tomorrow and will see if I can capture the image.
Will let you know later what finall takes it off.
      Thanks for the reply.

"Glitter Day 2007" at the 'Vette paint shop was a HUGE success!
