I am a firm believer in Meguiar's products. I have used stage 1-2 and 3, since 94. I have been asked if my cars have been repainted my comment is, "NO", I have used 1,2 and 3. Now my question is, I have found out that claying the paint is amazing, how often should I re-do this? I clayed my Mustang (02 gt) about 6 months ago and I only use the pro products, now. Do I need to re-clay, use steps 2 and 3, or just re-wax? Sorry if this is in the wrong post.

Re: new and lots of question
First off, Let me say welcome to MOL!
Thanks for your allegiance to Meguiars three step process over the years. Claying is what really got me hooked on detailing and since then I have done nothing but improve my skills and this forum and my friends here are part of the reason why.

Re: new and lots of question
Also, claying and cleaning do two different things. So when it needs clayed, it certainly needs cleaned.
But most people will use a cleaner a bit more often than they clay.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: new and lots of question
I usually clay my car a couple times a year, and it sits outside all the time. If your car is an outside car, then 3-4 times a year is probably sufficient. If it is garaged all the time, then you may only need to do it once or twice a year. It all depends on your environment and where your car is parked, etc.

Re: new and lots of question
There is no time limit for claying; how often you need to clay is totally dependent on exposure. You can clay and detail your car to perfection today then tomorrow park downwind from an industrial building that is being spray painted and you'll likely have to clay all over again.
Keep the same vehicle in a garage at night, and maybe in a parking structure during the day, wipe it down with UQD every night and wash it every week, get real lucky with exposure to other contaminants and you may go a year or more without having to clay again.
Wash and dry your vehicle, then run you clean, bare hand over the surface. If it feels rough at all, it's either time to clay or getting close to time. It's also very common to find that the horizontal surfaces are more contaminated than the vertical surfaces, so may want/need to clay only those.Michael Stoops

Re: new and lots of question
You would be fine.... However, if you have never clayed, you might not know what "smooth" paint is. I thought I knew, and then really found out after I clayed the first time.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
