  • Just bought a sweet ride!!

    Hi all,

Just bought a 2007 BLACK Yukon Denali. Of course, I didn't have enough money to buy a brand new one, so we have one with 55,000 miles that is in great shape.
I plan on using these forums to learn about the mequiar's products that I have been reading so much about.

First task will be swirl marks. Luckily, my wife has a black Maxima with plenty of swirl marks and some oxidation that i can work with first to test some products.

How do swirl-x and scratch-x work? Do they react chemically with the clear coat to remove these imperfections, or do they just fill in temporarily?

    welcome to MOL :]
congrats on your new ride, even tho it isn't new, it just makes it more fun to detail it

you may want to try the consumer line combo of Swirl-X and Ultimate Compound, by hand or by using a DA to remove those swirls, water spots and light oxidation (i assume)..

so your basic proses would be:
    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Clean (by using SwirlX/UC - Least aggresive first)
    4. Polish (optional
    5. Wax (Two thin layers is always best :])

Theres a difference in a person who has to do it and a person who wants to do it

      Thanks!

That sound exactly like what I have read in my research. I have only had this vehicle for less than a month, so I am a true novice, but I do have an eye for detail and the patience to do this work properly. This is the only vehicle I have had to this point that is worth this much attention. I am going to enjoy.

You can expect to spend some money on a good buffer, but consider it an investment. The best place place to find what you need is Auto Detailing Solutions. Very reasonably priced products, and you will never spend more than $16.95 on shipping and handling costs.
