  • Hello, newbie from Thailand needs help

    Hello there!
I'm driving a white Honda 'Jazz' aka 'Fit' and also having my mum's dark blue(don't know what's the color) Lexus GS300 which is pretty old.

I'm currently waxing my honda with no. 21.
I found that there are some swirls and scratches on my paint.
Can I use ultimate compound all over the paint job?
Or are there any advice. BTW the paint is still clear and smooth ^^
and I'd like to keep it that way.

For my mum's Lexus....paint job is quite horrible, rough and filled with scratches and swirls. Again, can I use UC to work on the entire paint job then wax it over the my no. 21

    I'm working by hand.

I wonder about the type of paint on both of cars.
    Honda Jazz 2008
    Lexus GS300 1998

Will the UC be too harsh for them?
    Are there any alternative?

Thanks for all advices in advance
    Cheers!!!
    Mac

    Welcome to Meguiars Online!!
    Did you clay?
It depends on how bad the swirls are, but either UC or SwirlX should do the trick, then wax.

Does claying the paint helps that much??
I wonder cuz the clay bar and the lubricator are so expensive here.
I have to pay double the price in US for all Meguiar's product line here T___________T

It will help with the wax, making it faster and easier to wipe on and off.
It makes the paint smooth as glass, and easier for polishing. It is almost necessary.

You dont have to do anything you dont want to, its just a matter of if you want the best results, or a bit less.

But yeah, claying is definately good.

As far as the cleaners, ideally you would want to do a test spot with SwirLX, and then if needed, jump to UC.

However, if it does come down to a money situation, you could try a test spot with UC applied gently. You would want to start off gently applying the product, and then work up to more passion as needed.

However, UC is not a product you want to use every detail. You may find it more cost effective to use a product like ColorX / ColurBoost (or #66), which is a cleaner/wax, and then top it with #21.

            Hello and welcome to mol.

If you could clay, I would. But I understand about the expense. Your decision.

BTW how many times a bar of clay can be applied to a car?
Some told me that a bar is separated in to halves, then you can save the other half for later use.

                Sawadeekap sobhark. welcome to MGMY.

How many times? it depends. After the first usage. If there is not to much contaminant you can use it again. But if there a lot I throw it away, especially when you drop the clay.

Yes you can cut into half and use one and save the other half later when your first half is risky (if you use you will scratch the paint) to use anymore.

Normally for me after the first and second use. I save the half to do the bottom part of the car. And use the new one for the upper part.

                    Thanks guys,
I still have some more question

Now im only waxing my white Honda Jazz with #21
Im thinkin of buyin those clay kit (cant remember the name) which as i remember including 2 bars of clay, lubricant(again dunno the name), wax cleaner

1> What else should I have to maintain my glossy white of my Jazz?
2> Anyone has any idea what type of paint does my car have....
3> Im also thinkin of getting a paint cutter, still deciding weather I should get UC or Scratch X 2.0 (I can only afford one, since the price doubled or even trippled in Thailand T______T) <This is for my mums 1990 Lexus which has its paint is quite...... unacceptable for most of the people lol >

                    >__<" im kinda new to these stuff since i just got my car for a year.

                    cheers!! ^^
                    Thanks to all

Are the stuffs there more expensive than here in my place? But your staying in Bangkok right? That is 12 hours from here. Anyway you should buy the clay kit and give it a try.

Re: Hello, newbie from Thailand needs help

Here is what I would do for both cars:

                        1. Wash

                        2. Clay - Clay your car first, then moms. You may need a second bottle of Quick Detailer lubricant. The clay lasts for more than 1 car, but the QD gets used up.

                        3. Clean - You can use UC in the bad spots on your car, and all over your moms car.

                        4. Cleaner/Wax - The Clay Kit comes with a cleaner/wax sample. You could buy another bottle of this, or I would consider the ColorX as mentioned above. You would then apply them over your car. You might not need it on your moms car, if your UC everything.

                        5. Wax - Then wax with your #21.

Then in the future, your details can be simpler to keep things looking good:

                        1. Wash
                        2. Clay if needed, or at least once/twice a year.
                        3. Cleaner/Wax or ColorX
                        4. Wax - #21

It is always a bit tougher, and costs a bit more to fix things rather than just maintain them.
