  • Yo from T.O.

I just sign-ed up today. I from Toronto and I have a 2006 Nighthawk Black Pearl Honda Civic coupe. I got it last summer and have only ever used my clay bar once and waxed it once.

I really need some guidance on how to ask my questions in the right place. I know here's not the right place but please point me in the right direction. I'm going to be getting an electric dual action polisher but in the meantime and I'm going to need to figure out which polishing product(s) will suit me and my car best.

    My intentions are to:
    - wash (not too bad of a way to start eh?)
    - clay bar
    - polish (i have swirls ALL over the place thanks to a dumb dealership who washed my car without asking me)
    - wax

What I can't figure out on my own is which polish I should try first...considering I've never used a dual action polisher before...nor polished any paint period ever. I'm not scared at all, I just don't want to get a polish that won't be aggresive enough or one that's too aggresive.

    Help....please!

Detailing questions should be posted in the Detailing 101 forum.

First off, Honda paint is pretty soft as a rule, so you should probably use Swirl X first and if that doesn't take care of your problem move up to Ultimate Compound. Read this thread for more info: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31175

        Thank you guys both!

I'll just abandon this thread now that you pointed me in the right direction.

P.S. - I'm aware of what you said about Honda paint. Furthermore, a few years ago I did a work-term at a Honda factory and I've saw brand new vehicles not even off the assembly line yet with marginal paint coverage. Sad really but...anyhow. Luckily the paint coverage on my car is fine...it just has other issues.
